Arlington County, Va. is governed by a five-person county board.

One of those 5 persons is an openly gay man.

I'm almost certain that with not too much work, you could still do business with many folks and businesses in Virginia, and still not damage your ideological purity.

I am a native born Virginian and have lived here since graduating from college over 30 years ago. Having said that, I ALWAYS vacation out of state and avoid making any discretionary purchases in -state. I would fully support a boycott, and if it hurts me as well as others, well perhaps they will join me in voting the republican bastards out of office!

House Bill 751

1. § 20-45.3. Civil unions between persons of same-sex.

A civil union, partnership contract or other arrangement between persons of the same sex purporting to bestow the privileges or obligations of marriage is prohibited. Any such civil union, partnership contract or other arrangement entered into by persons of the same sex in another state or jurisdiction shall be void in all respects in Virginia and any contractual rights created thereby shall be void and unenforceable.

I really hope you get away from those dreadful conservatives. Tho it is not perfect, Calif is one place a gay can live a fairly trouble free life. I am in Palm Springs, the latest center of Gay migration. It is freeper land, but is changing quickly. Gays now control city council and have elected the country's first openly gay black man as mayor. Next step is to replace our local puke assembly person, and finally Mary Bono.
