At my local county fair in NW Ohio, I walked by the Right to Life booth. There, they had a bunch of bumper stickers to distribute which said something along the line of "You can't be Catholic and pro-choice." This is an obvious ploy to pressure Catholics into not voting for John Kerry this November.
OK, fine. But, I guess a good Catholic shouldn't vote for George Bush, either. The Pope and the Catholic church have both condemned Bush's war in Iraq. And I guess a good Catholic should not vote for Bush because the Pope and the Catholic church have condemned capital punishment.
I would have tactfully brought this up to anyone at the booth, but nobody was running it at the time. I probably would have had a burning cross on my front yard by tomorrow morning.
Where I live, Right to Life is so militant and so Republican, it's a joke. It's too bad most of the people in this area don't see it, too. Every election season they'll leave a pamphlet on your windshields endorsing a slate of Republicans, even though some of them are pro-choice, including our current Lieutenant Governor.
Hypocrites!
