Has this poll been DUed, or is the tide finally turning?
CNN poll: Did the US make a mistake in sending troops to Iraq?

Yes: 61 percent (24778 votes)
No: 39 percent (16145 votes)

I think Bush is, as Dick Cheney would say, "fucked".

1. Maybe a little skewed sample, but...
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 09:53 AM by LoZoccolo
...yeah, the majority now thinks the war was a mistake; I've seen this elsewhere in more scientific polls.

7. I think a big mistake...
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 10:03 AM by LoZoccolo
...was thinking that the loudest mouths of the right-wing echo chamber represented widespread sentiment, and being intimidated by that. Looking back, I don't think many people even listen to that stuff; it's just that there's a fervent dedicated loyal following.

That's how the rwingers have operated all along. The modus operandi is to make their numbers appear larger than they actually are. The Red/Blue map of the US is a good example. Create the illusion of an overwhelming majority and don't stop hammering the message. Keep banging the war drums.

9. Poll the troops
Find out what percent of the troops think someone from their unit will be the last to die for this mistake.

10. What exactly do you mean by DUed?
I get the impression that you think we somehow "fix" the polls or vote more than one time. The Freepers openly admit to such practice and in fact brag about doing so but I know of no DUer that would suggest voting more than once in any poll or election.

14. I don't think we fix polls at all.
I think when someone asks to "DU" a poll, they just want to make people here aware of the poll so they can vote for the truth. Most sites have protection against multiple voting anyway.

I agree with you that no DUer would vote more than once in an online poll, but I just thought that someone else here noticed the poll and posted it as a heads up, and that might have explained the anti-Bush results.

13. You can't really "DU" a CNN poll.
A small local site can get bombardded by us to skew results but CNN has so many votes on their polls, that our numbers don't skew much. I think these numbers are very representative of the online population.
