WASHINGTON (AFP) - For the first time since the Iraq (news - web sites) war, a majority of Americans believe it was a mistake sending US troops to Iraq and that it has not made the United States safer from terrorism, according to a CNN/USA Today poll.
The proportion of Americans who believe the Iraq war was a mistake jumped from 41 percent in early June to 54 percent when the latest poll was taken June 21-23. Fifty-five percent do not believe their country is safer from terrorism, according to the poll released late Thursday.
