Right Wing Campaign Against F/911 enters a new phase
Just read in another forum that the right wing radio is reporting that people are leaving F 9/11 in droves during the film, marching up to the ticket window and demanding their money back. It's being widely reported today on RW radio. Which is odd.. because other than opening in some theatres in New York on Wednesday, the only theatres showing it last night were FUNDRAISERS. People are walking out of fundraisers demanding their money back? OR are people seeing the film at 7am this morning? So.. the game plan by the anti-Moore people appears to be having people pay to get into the film, then demanding their money back halfway through (sort of like O'Reilly at the premiere last week). Another salvo in the coalition of clueless, "They can't handle the truth".

1. Sometime I almost wish they would behave more like Traditional Nazis
instead of this New Kinder and Gentler Nazis.

12. Not in the areas of violence and overt racism (yet)
All other areas have varying degrees of similarity betwixt our Totalitarians and the German's.

18. IF they are even staging it...
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 11:33 AM by JHB
It'd be pure SOP for someone to just make it up, then the whole spin machine just repeats the "report" until it sounds like it's happening everywhere.

LOL. Since when do you get your money back if you don't like a movie?

Actually, this sounds like an "urban legend" to me.

8. They have taken their cue from South Park
when the boys hated "The Passion" and went to track down Mel Gibson for their money back. IT WAS JUST A COMEDY FREEPERS - YOU CAN'T REALLY DO THAT. What Dumbasses - and no doubt either staged or an out and out lie.

11. I actually think it's staged by the expensive RW PR firm...
Could very well be part of a PR campaign to discredit the film. We have to remember, the leaders of the group against this film are a PR firm. This is what they do. I actually believed it's being staged by paid people or volunteers in many markets. PR firms do this.. I used to work in PR, this is very very much their style. STreet Teams for the politcally challenged.

9. Silly rabbits. Tricks are for kids.
Sounds like they're trying to take seats that Dems would have, were it not for them. Then, when they demand their $$$ back, it supposedly would lessen the money from ticket sales.

All to show that the movie didn't make much money, I suppose.

Shows what kind of people they are (don't hesitate to stamp on others' rights). But it won't work.

13. The RW radio audience believes ANYTHING
most theatres have lines of people waiting for tickets. I just saw an interview on MSNBC with a threatre manager who is running F/911 practically 24-7 - the first showing starts at 6:30AM.

19. Theaters have a way of solving this trick real quick
They will post signs that say something to the effect,

"Be Warned, this movie contains controversial and political commentary. If such discussion may offend you, we discourage you from purchasing a ticket for this film. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED."

I have seen it done in theatres in the past - a threatre will do it again if they see any measurable amount of seats refunded. They are about making money.

24. When I worked for a theater
we never gave refunds. If someone walked out of a movie and asked for their money back, we gave them a movie pass that they could use to see any other movie - NO EXCEPTIONS. It's a much quicker way of dealing with things than processing refunds.

I still can't believe how much energy the freepers are putting into this. It still all goes back to the big question. WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF?

25. I'm waiting for the angry mob from stolen election to show up
The first theater in Mpls that announced showing, "The Lagoon", has the first three showings sold out. Alas, it will be showing at Har Mar and the Mall of America. I've never been to a movie premier and don't go to the theater much. Usually i can wait for the DVD.
This time I am excited and hope the best for Michael and the movie.

No "droves" of people left. In fact, there were 1500 people who were riveted to their seats until the last moment.

Just more bullshit spin on the part of the RWers.
