WTF?!? Bush's Carlyle Group buys Loews Theaters - No F 911?
A lot of people have been reporting on how the Bush crime family, the RW media and Repug party are pre-emptively trying to supress Farenheit 911, from threatening Disney over its tax breaks in Florida, to organizing protests at screenings, to the Repugs in Congress scheduling a vote during a screening -- it goes on and on.

But have you heard that the Bush family's Carlyle Group -- the vehicle for its investments in arms industries and its relationships with the Saudis -- has just purchased the Loews Cineplex Theater chain. Do you think this is part of the attempt to supress the film???

By Naomi Grossman
Last updated: June 23, 2004 01:49pm

BOSTON-A corporation formed by Bain Capital, the Carlyle Group and Spectrum Equity Investors reached an agreement to acquire Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp. and Grupo Cinemex from Onex Corp. and its partner, Oaktree Capital Management LLC for approximately $1.5 billion.
The Toronto-based Onex and Oaktree will retain the Loews interest in Cineplex Galaxy, which operates the Loews theater business in Canada as well as Galaxy Entertainment. Loews is the third largest movie theater chain in the industry, with over 200 theaters and 2,200 screens worldwide. The assets being acquired include Loews' operations in the US, Grupo Cinemex, and its 50% interests in Megabox Cineplex of Korea and Yelmo Cineplex of Spain.

1. A good plan.
I'm quite surprised that no one tried this sooner, to be honest. If you can't control the masses, control the media!

3. Yes, we've heard. One could guess a LOT of movies won't play Loews
now. They neocons sill stop at nothing to prevent certain voices from being heard. The whole media ownership rules changes have been worked to this end.

They attack liberals for 'hating America' while they dismantle the structures which make America great.

6. When they say America
they don't mean the same thing we do.

After kicking Poppy off the board, you 'd think they were buying it to promote the movie...

5. FWIW, I saw F911 in a Loews theater last night....
if they're planning on suppressing it, it will only make MOORE money for the other chains.

7. This will only add to the growing demand to see this film
Just saw it last night at the Alamo Draft House here in Austin.

I don't think they CAN controll this.

8. Silly rabbit, they're not suppressing anything
movie theaters are very profitable. If Moore is making a killing off of bashing their boy George, then they want in on it. It's about the money honey!

9. But is this a coincidence?
Many of you conclude that they cannot supress this film. So is this purchase just a coincidence? Business acquisitions often take months to plan. Are we being to conspiratorial?

Or should we not put anything past the bush crime family?

And is it true that Poppy Bush was kicked off the Carlysle board, as realpolitik wrote?
