When was it Tenet resigned or was asked to resign? Was that "about a month ago?"
I ask because that old Capitol Hill Blue story said that Tenet scheduled a meeting with Bush alone, met him in the WH residence, and that Bush fired Tenet for 'disloyalty', and later said it was God's judgment. If that chronology is accurate--and I am not saying it is or it isn't--it would be interesting to know what the act of 'disloyalty' was and whether Tenet was maybe passing along what he had told the investigator.
Speculate away.
On Edit; I think Tenet resigned 02 June (the day Bush first consulted a private lawyer). That's 23 days... so Tenet probably talked to the investigator shortly before resigning. Also on edit, added these materials:"Tenet wanted to quit last year but the President got his back up and wouldn't hear of it," says an aide. "That would have been the opportune time to make a change, not in the middle of an election campaign but when the director challenged the President during the meeting Wednesday, the President cut him off by saying 'that's it George. I cannot abide disloyalty. I want your resignation and I want it now."
Tenet was allowed to resign "voluntarily" and Bush informed his shocked staff of the decision Thursday morning. One aide says the President actually described the decision as "God's will."
