My Letter To The Editor on F 9/11 Movie
First time I ever had one published! They chopped the hell out of it, but I'll included a paste of my original letter, along with a response from the editor:

Today's published letter:

Original Letter:

Ms. ______:

I'll publish your letter, but I'm going to make some changes. Censorship is the government prohibiting dissemination of content. Theaters are making business decisions, not censoring anything.

> Dear Editor:
>
> Just to let your readers know, Wausau area movie theaters are
> censoring Michael Moore's new movie, Fahrenheit 9/11. I called the
> Cedar Creek Cinema, and was told "They don't show movies like that."
> The lady who answered said "That's a Michael Moore movie, isn't it?"
> That was my first hint that they too were censoring the movie, just
> like they did for Bowling for Columbine. As of right now, they are
> showing The Day After tomorrow, which is not a movie supportive of
> the Bush Administration's policies. That is obvious to anyone who
> sees this movie, at least those of us who think for ourselves. I
> wonder if the fact that there is a Bush-Cheney campaign office right
> next to the theater has anything to do with the censoring of "movies
> like that." Oops, maybe The Day After Tomorrow will be on the
> chopping block next. At least that movie made it to the theater. I
> encourage any of you who want to see this movie to go to a Wisconsin
> theater and see it, but you won't be going to any theaters in Wausau.

1. Wow, good catch about the Bush-Cheney HQ
LOL. I think the editor was right - it's not technically censorship, it's repression. Both are bad. At least they published it, way to go!

2. Yeah...
some Bush yahoo said in an interview of , If the President has enough extra time to see a movie, he would see something entertaining and nice to watch, like Shrek. Bullcrap! You know he's going to get his own copy to watch.
Wow! Dinger! You were published! Too bad they hacked it up. However, the fact that they published it all, is good. You made some great points, and the HQ next to the theatre is just a little too convenient. Whatever, they'll just lose out on a lot of cash. I wouldn't be suprrised if they carry it after the opening week, after it breaks all kinds of box office records. Interesting Moore endorsed Wesley Clark. That should say volumes about Clark's strength of character and integrity, Hugh Shelton be dammed.
BRAVO DINGER! :yourock:
