Pass out voter registration applications to the other theater patrons who need them. You can usually get the forms right off the internet.

1. Or, if the showing isn't full, buy an extra ticket.
:)

6. Bump up the numbers
If it becomes a huge draw, there will be "free publicity"

7. That's what some of the karate moms here in West L.A. are doing.
The better the box office, the more the coverage. And the more the coverage, the more the curiosity. And the more the curiosity, the more people will want to go see it. As my teenage daughter observed this afternoon - lots of people are going to want to see it just for the controversy, regardless where they stand politically.

Soon enough, the reaction will be "you mean you HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET?!?!?!?!??!" At that point, those who haven't will find themselves fairly nearly shamed into seeing it. Doesn't matter what the provocation, as long as they do see it. Then it'll REALLY start getting interesting. My husband just poked his head out from the TV and said "boy, the republi-CONS are REALLY SCARED about this Michael Moore movie!" Of course they are. And they're going to grow even more scared as more people see it.

dick cheney said today that he felt better after telling Patrick Leahy to go "fuck yourself." I daresay this will be the last time, for a LONG time, that he feels better. Better line up that new pacemaker NOW, dick.

3. Might be illegal
I got the same idea when I saw 500 people crowd the theater, thinking "how many of the are registered? They damn syure will after this."

But, at least ehre in NV, it is illegal to announce the name of your party or try and influence someone's choices at all; you can't even talk politics at all. Saying "Didja see George Bush on the news last night?" while holding a clipboard full of registration papers is a felony here. There are, of course, many other considerations as well, but I would urge you to at least check your state's laws if you haven't done this sort of thing before.

4. In Colorado...
It's not illegal unless you give them a stamp to mail it in with.

Just ask: "Hey, is anybody here not registered to vote?" Then give them one. You won't know if they will register as a Republican and you won't know who they will vote for. Who knows, maybe the movie will make some vote for the Shrub. Perfect defense.

You say a felony? Sorry, but I find that hard to believe.
