I'm a native of Nebraska (Lincoln). Have been in Los Angles for many years but I love to keep tabs on my home state. Sure it's plenty republican but there are bright progressive spots in every red state. I saw it was playing in Omaha and Lincoln but GRAND ISLAND? Wow. If it's selling out or even close to it there, we're in good shape. Any of my beloved Cornhuskers see it yet? Can you report anything about reactions, ticket sales, etc.? I hope the news is good. Much love for Nebraska and I would be sad if the movie tanks there. (kinda expect it to do well in Lincoln, college-town and all).

1. Starts tonight at one theater in Omaha. Hasn't been a lot on the news
about it, but you should know that there wouldn't be here.

3. F9-11 in Nebraska
I am also a native of NE (Wolbach, Omaha), my partner and I moved to St Petersburg, FL almost two years ago. There are more Dem's than you would think in the small towns but not many liberals, hence the move to St. Pete. There were six kids in my graduating class, two joined the military to help pay for school, I tried but was rejected because of medical reasons. If you want to go to college the military is often the only option for kids from small towns. My partner was in the Navy for eight years she was a Russian linguist and served during the first Gulf War. Grand Island, as you know is smack dab in the middle of the state and I am guessing the movie will draw decent crowds, there are several smaller colleges around there and people won't have to drive for two or three hours to see the movie in LNK or OMA. We still have several friends and family in the Omaha and Lincoln area. I know that many of them are planning to go see the movie. We are going to see F 911 tomorrow in Tampa... I can't wait! Oh, I almost forgot. GO BIG RED!

7. Thanks for the welcome, I finally got off my ass and registered on DU
I have been lurking for months. This site and similar ones are my salvation. I was so sick of ENDLESS cheer-leading for this war. It took my partner a while to see that she was being lied to by dumbya and our press and now she is PO'd. We love it here, but you are right the traffic stinks, there are some very scary drivers down here. St. Pete seems to be a liberal oasis. If only the rest of the state would join in. Do you ever go to Bart cop.com, he is an Okie also. Any plans on moving back here?

5. Welcome to DU!
I grew up in Omaha as well (lived in New England since the late 80's though). There are many pockets of progressive people in Omaha and other parts of the states are largely Conservative (I still have a lot of family in the Grand Island area), but it doesn't mean people are necessarily close-minded either. Most are working class, decent people I think that may be looking to open their eyes because right now so many are hurting. Hopefully, local politicians that be will not put forth pressure to block this from happening.

8. Funny You Should Ask
Tonight I had to go to the theater here in Omaha to exchange the tickets for the late show.

Just outside the parking lot there were several teens (maybe early twenties). Two of them had signs:

"Fahrenheit 911 is full of lies"

and

"Fahrenheit 911 funded by a terrorist"

I saw several people honk and give these clowns the thumbs up. On the way out, I heard shouting. Someone asked: "Name one lie in the movie". The kid responded, "They didn't interview anyone from the Bush administration". Another replied, "Hezzbulah supports this movie". There was more shouting as I drove off.

I'm excited to see it later this evening. I'll post anything eventful.
