Have you noticed that Slate & NPR "affect" to be liberal, but they're not
Slate's reviewer just gave "Far 9-11" a decidedly mixed review, calling MM the left's answer to Rush Limbaugh. Other slams--the movie is "thugish" (without the reviewer's saying why, conveniently) and he was appalled at the footage of the grieving mother, which I've heard a lot of people say was the best part of the movie.

After hearing NPR's Neil Conan practically asphixiate himself licking Reagan's jack boots ("how can we explain to our younger employees here at NPR how Ronald Reagan changed our lives?" on day seven of unremitting idolatry), I'm sure glad AirAmerica has started.

I've noticed the same thing at Slate--they pretend an urbane hipness, but it seems to be of the "I'm too sophisticated to take sides" variety.

Hey, Slate, if you're not working for change, you're part of the problem.

1. They Are Such a Sneaky Bunch
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 07:29 PM by stepnw1f
I've been listening to them then checking the news here and elsewhere, and I am absolutely convinced this station panders to the Republican Party. Sad... and how they hide under the guise of "liberal."

3. Oh, right, heh . . . I hadn't thought about it that way--of course, one of
the biggest corporations in the world would lean toward the right.

7. Actually, I disagree
United for a Fair Economy and Responsible Wealth, a group lobbying against the repeal of the estate tax, is led by Bill Gates Sr, and includes among its members Bill Gates Jr and Warren Buffett.
Also, the Gates Foundation has spent billions on education, health, and immunization in third world countries, hardly a cause espoused by your average freeper.

expect them to endorse anti-monopoly laws, can you, heh?

4. I just listened To FAIR on WPR
FAIR's Steve Rendell tells Dave Berkman host of Wisconsin Public Radio's Media Talk that NPR cites Conservative media outlets more frequently than Liberal/Progressive: NPR is in fact Center-Right at best.

Have a listen... it's archived already.

Media Talk with Dave Berkman - 06/25M
The group, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting recently conducted a study on N-P-R. After five, on Media Talk, Dave Berkman and a co-author of the study ask the question, “is public radio really public?”

Guest: Steve Rendell, senior analyst, FAIR. Co-host, CounterSpin, FAIR's national radio show.

5. Is Kinsley still with Slate? I loathe him. Once I saw him scorn a
democratic Congressman who appeared on Crossfire and was decrying the way animals - especially cows - are abused on dairy farms. Kinsley raised his snarky upper lip and actually sneered saying "Who cares about the welfare of cows"?
Well, creep-o, I do.

6. They've changed over the last few years ...
"Talk of the Nation" used to be a wonderful program, but now they sound like camp followers of the Bush administration. All of NPR has taken a right-ward shift recently. I really hate what Republicans have done to this network. It has been dumbed down by several IQ points.

12. If I were a RW'er, I'd want to interject myself into NPR before I'd want
to have FOX News.

One's preaching to the converted, the other is getting people to act against their best interests.

And that's why I think RW'ers have subtley interjected themselves into NPR.
