hack "writer" trots out lame excuse...
glenn lovell in today's san jose mercury news' "EYE" section thought not panicking the schoolkids was reason enough for * to JUST SIT THERE like a COMPLETE FUCKING MORON for 7 minutes.i would have provided a link, but you have to register, and it's really not worth reading...

1. Today on O'Franken, Al and Mike Moore had another take on that.
Consider what was known that day. Bush & co. had been over the PDB from August knowing that Al-Q was planning a major attack. We knew Al-Q wanted to use airplanes. We knew they would want to target America's financial, military, and governmental symbols. Surely it wasn't too much of a stretch to think that Bush himself may be targeted? So why would Bush endanger the lives of hundreds of schoolchildren by remaining at that school, not just for the 7 minutes of book reading but for a full THIRTY minutes after the attacks?

So instead of panicking the kids, he endangered them. Oh yeah, that's MUCH better.

3. How about this idea?....
FratBoy and the rest of the NeoCons knew the attacks were coming, AND KNEW WHAT WAS GOING TO BE HIT.

Doesn't that give you a different perspective on why FratBoy sat there for 7 minutes and didn't leave the school until another 23 minutes went by?

He KNEW that he personally was in absolutely NO danger whatsoever.

4. Not only that Franken and Moore discussed that if they were
the POTUS they could have excused themselves in under twenty seconds without upsetting the children.

5. Don't forget

about the van load of "Arabic looking men" driving up the private
compound where * had spent the previous night, asking for directions
or something.

I can't believe the Secret Service didn't come running into the
classroom (right after the second plane hit) and physically remove
* from the premises and out to door to Air Farce One. Unless, of
course, they were secretly kinda hoping that the Arabic looking men
would be coming by the school...

2. Damn straight
it's not worth reading. I cancelled by subscription to that rag a year ago. Just saw Farenheit 9-11 in San Jose. Century theatres have added several more shows, and it was showing on two screens at the Oakridge Mall in San Jose. Lines out the door for both screens. Great reaction from the crowd. :D

6. My problem with the whole deal
is why the hell did he go in in the first place? He knew the first tower had been hit by then so why not just give his apologies and leave. I'm sure those kids wouldn't have minded. This focus on the seven minutes is just weird. Sure, he looked like a deer caught in the headlights but what was everyone thinking when they let him do the photo op anyway?

8. Here's the link
http://tinyurl.com/2h2hh

You can use that directly without logging in at all.

The article is a total hatchet job. Notice how he missed the point of Bowling for Columbine, too.

What an idiot.

check out what this reviewer has to say about that ridiculous reasoning:
http://www.phlogredux.org/messages/54393.html

(snip)
The shots of Bush in that classroom, after being told that the country was under attack... you’ve all read about this, but when you *see* it, it will shock you even more. The only thing the Bush fans have been able to offer by way of defence for this is that Bush was trying to show that there was no panic. The sad saps who actually managed to force that crap out of their mouths are going to be squirming on their fat Republican arses when they actually *see* this shot, because the look in Bush’s face is SHEER, STUNNED PANIC. Anyone with the slightest sensitivity to body language will look at that pathetic excuse for a man and see the shifting, glazed eyes of a stunned rabbit. He sits there – for seven long minutes – not even reading out loud to the children as I’d believed – just nervously fingering his copy of “My Pet Goat”, those glassy eyes staring without focus, looking at the floor, looking anywhere but into someone’s face. This is a man rendered immobile and impotent by panic and fear, and there it is... captured on camera. Undeniable. And the reaction in the audience is palpable. You could feel them thinking the same thing: “This is our leader... this is how he reacted to the worst ever attack on our nation. This man is USELESS IN A CRISIS. He does not have ONE CLUE what to do. He’s frozen.”

13. Of course, the anxiety level of 30 children certainly outweighs...
the security of the US.
