Question about Ted Olsen stepping down.
What is the chance that Olsen is getting out of government so he
can represent the Bush-Cheney Gang without the problem of being a government lawyer?

1. Can't give you the Vegas odds...
... but that's just what I posted to Unfiltered's blog this morning when I heard the news. The Unfiltered hosts didn't express that viewpoint (somewhat disappointing), but Randi Rhodes did say just that during today's show.

Randi gets on my nerves at times, but she's much more in tune with alternative perspectives than the other AAR hosts.

2. It has been discussed in LBN
That it might have something to do with the Plame outing and Olsen being a material witness and conflict of interest.

It is just projection, I guess we will have to wait to find out.

3. Gone but not forgotten,
Olsen will always be in the service of the Bushies. They'd better get their stories straight or they'll bring Olsen down with them.

7. Olson is a hard-line loyalist.
I doubt he is abandoning ship. My guess is that he's planning to help defend Bush against the coming onslaught of legal proceedings. In order to do that, he must return to the private sector.

And you can bet that Olson's pathetic little toady, Douglas R. Cox, will be at his side.

5. I thought he was stepping down so he could be named
CIA director, but someone told me it wouldn't be necessary to do that. You've raised an interesting point though.
