The deteriorating Bush
This morning, on my way into work, I listened to an NPR segment on the debating styles of Bush and Kerry. They played a clip of Bush from 10 years ago and one from recently and commented on how incoherent he had become. It was really startling--I had been aware that he had been deteriorating but the conrast between these two sound clips was just amazing. NPR offered up as explanation that he was deliberately trying to sound like "just folks" or that he was just less comfortable in the White House than he had been in Texas. They also offered up a vague "psycho-linguistic" explanation.

The drug/alcohol/degenerative disease explanation wasn't mentioned but, hey, at least mainstream media is beginning to notice that Chimpy is losing it.

1. It's really hard for him to say anything sensible with all the lies
floating around. Vague soundbites only!

They are the evildoers and will do whatever it takes to win - Bush just happens to be there.

3. C-SPAN used this clip in their interview with James Fallows the other day.
Fallows has an article in this month's Atlantic Monthly wherein he analyzes all the debates each of them have participated in.

They used that clip from ten years ago and the change in the man in the past decade is just heart-stopping.

If you can find a video clip of this, do watch it.

He really must have some kind of brain damage.
