Compare and contrast, friends. What makes the Gray Lady so demure? They printed every single word Chalabi had to say.

NEW YORK TIMES:

Cheney Owns Up to Profanity Incident and Says He 'Felt Better Afterwards'
By RICHARD W. STEVENSON

Published: June 26, 2004

SIOUX CITY, Iowa, June 25 - Vice President Dick Cheney, long portrayed by his aides as unperturbed by partisan attacks, admitted Friday that he "probably" cursed at a senior Democratic senator this week, said he did not regret it and added that he "felt better afterwards."

The revelation, if that is what it was, that Mr. Cheney is comfortable with the use of four-letter words and is willing to direct them at political opponents, was the latest in a string of developments over the past few weeks that have put the vice president squarely in the spotlight.

<snip - first reference, and this is about a dozen paragraphs later>

Interviewed by Fox News on Friday after a speech in Saginaw, Mich., Mr. Cheney did not specifically acknowledge using the expletive that he has been widely reported to have used.

<snip>

Then Mr. Cheney stalked off, Mr. Leahy's aides said, using an obscene phrase to describe what he thought Mr. Leahy should do.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS:

Cheney: I cursed pol and it felt good
BY KENNETH R. BAZINET
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - An unrepentant Vice President Cheney begrudgingly admitted yesterday that he cursed at Sen. Pat Leahy and bragged that he felt good about it.

A smirking Cheney tried to sidestep the issue of whether he launched the F-word, first saying with a laugh he "probably" did.

But when Fox News' Neil Cavuto pressed him on whether he regretted his choice of words, the venom-tongued veep added, "No. I said it, and as I said, I felt better about it afterward."

Sources said Cheney told Leahy, "Go f--- yourself," after the vice president complained he didn't like the Vermont Democrat attacking Halliburton. The Pentagon says Halliburton, formerly headed by Cheney, overcharged taxpayers $186 million in Iraq, and Leahy calls it war profiteering.

WASHINGTON POST:

Cheney Dismisses Critic With Obscenity
By Helen Dewar and Dana Milbank

On Tuesday, Cheney, serving in his ceremonial role as president of the Senate, appeared in the chamber for a photo session. A chance meeting with Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, became an argument about Cheney's ties to Halliburton Co., an international energy services corporation, and President Bush's judicial nominees. The exchange ended when Cheney offered some crass advice.

"Fuck yourself," said the man who is a heartbeat from the presidency.

Leahy's spokesman, David Carle, yesterday confirmed the brief but fierce exchange. "The vice president seemed to be taking personally the criticism that Senator Leahy and others have leveled against Halliburton's sole-source contracts in Iraq," Carle said.

As it happens, the exchange occurred on the same day the Senate passed legislation described as the "Defense of Decency Act" by 99 to 1.

2. Also, I think "what Cheney said" is now our best retort

It's extremely useful, not profane, and yet it says so much.

3. I can't believe what the Times
has deteriorated in to. As far as I am concerned they have lost all credibility.

Total and complete whores!
