Here's a part of the article:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/content_objectid=13583626_method=full_siteid=50143_headline=-THE-AWKWARD-CONSCIENCE-OF-A-NATION-name_page.htmlTake his description of his fellow countrymen and their blind pursuit of the American Dream: "They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks.
"We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don't know about anything that's happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing. National Geographic produced a survey which showed that 60 per cent of 18-25 year olds don't know where Great Britain is on a map. And 92 per cent of us don't own a passport."
When I tell him his new book Dude, Where's My Country? has gone straight in at No 1 in our bestseller list, he's almost as astonished as I am that I've managed to halt his spleen: "Oh my God, I didn't know that. Wow that's like, amazing. Phew!"-------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it is true. People here are mostly ignorant to their surroundings. I'll bet there's people that can't even name our Vice President. America has been completely dumbed down.
Just take a look at our so-called 'news' media. It's all fluff! As Jon Stewart pointed out last night on Larry King, why is it that for every news story, they have to have a point/counterpoint for it? And at the end of the three minute segment, nothing is really discussed or settled. Or why many of the points discussed in F 9/11 or on internet news sites are not even mentioned? Or why important things like this are brushed aside for the latest about Scott Peterson/J-Lo/Britney/Kobe/Michael Jackson? No wonder why we've become a culture of morons!
Once again, I actually agree with Michael Moore. He said something that people are afraid to bring up.
