Anyone know how Moore convinced the 2 recruiters in "F 9/11" to be filmed?

Did they know they were being filmed for "Fahrenheit 9/11"? I am kind of shocked they'd even cooperate with Moore unless he had other people filming them and didn;t tell them what the footage would be used for.

I saw the film tonight, and don't even know where to begin praising it.

I think the most hideous thing I witnessed though, which will give me nightmares for months, was the way that well-coifed, pimpin' Paul (the vampire) Wolfowitz put his comb in his mouth to wet it before combing his hair and the leer he gave the camera afterwards.

3. The thing is, they're just doing their job.

I've asked my son's recruiter and he says they absolutely do not make money per recruit but they do have quotas for the office.

Our recruiter has been very upfront with us and I've asked him some hard questions. We're liberals and atheists and I was concerned that my son would either have to lie about his beliefs or be persecuted for them. Our recruiter assured us that the Marines would not brainwash our son and after almost nine months in the Marines, he appears he was right.

In fact, many of the Marines my son has met (including his recruiter!) do not like Bush nor do they support this war.

4. My recruiter doesn't believe in the war in Iraq and is voting for Kerry.

But, mine is upfront with me as well. The Army expects 36 bodies a year out of our station. I was the 19th of the year, and I enlisted about 2 weeks ago.

6. I was in the Marines for 6 years

and my recruiter never laid any crap like that on me, but have heard some stories about stuff like that, and BTW, they do get performance bonuses for going over quota. As far as being worried about your son being a liberal or atheist, no one really cares in the Marines,at least, not in my experience. Marines care more about the President giving them what they need to do their jobs, taking care of their families, and paying them more,because we really don't pay guys fighting for our country shit, it is really sad. Oh, and also keeping them out of BS wars that have no purpose than to fatten Halliburton and Carlyle's bottom lines.

My son told me that before the Crucible at boot camp, the senior drill instructor asked for show of hands who believed in God and who didn't. About half a dozen said they didn't believe in God and he took them outside and asked them who they turned to at those times when they are physically and mentally challenged. My son spoke up and said he gets his strength from within, his belief in himself. The others apparently said something like, "Yeah, what he said." Anyway, the senior answered, "Fine, as long as you have something." I found that amazing and not at all what I expected.

That was one of the most shocking things of the film. I presume that the film crew had to stay with the Mom. But I would have LOVED to see where that freeper in dark glasses went when she was done spreading misinformation.

The phrase "The lady doth protest too much???" was never more relevant.

Just curious. I've had ideas for reality-internet political films but always wondered how to to go about getting permission from those you film to use their images.

I'm pretty sure you don't need permission if your filming in a public place with their knowledge. Besides, the lady was wearing LARGE sunglasses. I doubt she could be easily identified.

16. SHE put herself in front of the camera

in the middle of a filming in a public place. No signed release is necessary. Her actions in putting herself between the camera and the film subject are clear evidence of her intent to be filmed, and the fact that she was in a public space makes claims about any invasion of privacy rather silly. As a reminder about when "permissions" are needed, remember the "upskirt" web video controversy when the victims had no legal recourse until new laws were written specific to this particular variant on filming in public spaces.

But if you are filming news-type footage in a public place then it's not necessary. I'm not sure where the line is drawn.

15. I'd guess the recruiters hoped the camera would attract kids

on the, "all publicity's good publicity" theory. I'm sure they would have been happy to agree to anything that might draw teens in to see what was going on.
