It's a website all about the Supreme Court. It has info on current cases, justices, and SCOTUS history.
The justices (in order of seniority) are:
William Rehnquist, 79 John Paul Stevens, 84 Sandra Day O'Connor, 74 Antonin Scalia, 68 Anthony Kennedy, 67 David Souter, 64 Clarence Thomas, 56 Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 71 Steven Breyer, 65
I'm thinking Rehnquist and/or O'Connor will retire in a few weeks, so that Bush may appoint replacements that will make him look favorable for the election, i.e. Thomas for Chief Justice. Or a former Governor of the battleground state of Missouri, whose name I refuse to mention. :scared:
But, of course, I don't think that would save Bush. If Kerry does win, I can bet for sure that Stevens will step down a year from now so Kerry will be able to appoint a new justice right away. Heck, maybe Ginsburg will step down, but I think she would wait until later in Kerry's term.
Who could replace them? Well, some people would like Clinton, Gore, Reno, or Spitzer, all fine choices. Or how about Damon Keith? Michiganders may know that Granholm was Keith's clerk for a few years.
Your thoughts?
