A common RW claim that is easily rebuked-conerns Hezbollah "backing" F 911
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 07:20 PM by noahmijo
Okay this seems to be the strongest RW talking point. I've heard this on Rush and the rest of the talking heads,

The notion that Hezbollah itself is helping to fund or is in some way endorsing or backing Farenheit 9/11

The repubs seem to be taking this theory and treating it as gospel.

Here is the real story. It came originally I think from a gosspi column in the Guardian Unlimited (England's right wing paper) which got it from some other source you'll see here:

Quote:
Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, the film is being offered the kind of support it doesn't need. According to Screen International, the UAE-based distributor Front Row Entertainment has been contacted by organisations related to the Hezbollah in Lebanon with offers of help

Source: http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,12589,1240819,00.html

So you see this claim is based off one claim based off a notion...in other words NO CONCRETE PROOF THAT ANY ORGANIZATION RELATED TO TERRORISTS IS HELPING TO FUND MICHEAL'S MOVIE.

As I said every RW form of media from WorldNetDaily to the talk show hosts are using this piece as gospel that in fact Moore is in bed with terrorists

Funny how they take this as gospel when it's nothing but a theory based on other loose rumors, yet show them in their face undeniable proof of Bush ties with Saudis, and it's lies lies lies...

If any of you feel so inclined to correct the RW liars trying to spread this around feel free to use it.

That's what I put this up for.

Enjoy!

1. The Guardian is NOT "England's right wing paper".
That would be the Telegraph. The Guardian is generally regarded as England's most LIBERAL paper.

Just so you know...

2. That's what I thought too but....
I had an English (As in from UK) teacher last semester who told me that the Guardian Unlimited section (which is what I cited as being right wing) is sort of the Conservative fold off The Guardian.

Oh well, whatever, this section that I posted as a source is clearly not from a liberal point of view and it was published in The Guardian unlimited.

3. bet Rush didn't mention
Bandar Bush, did he? Scott Ritter did a documentary a few years back about the Iraqis living under sanctions, and the RW said it was financed by Saddam to smear him.

4. Disney Backed The Film, Then they Backed Out
Hopefully one of the last decisions Eisner gets to make as CEO of Disney.
