Carlyle Group is buying Loews theaters...for real

I saw this article today. Sorry I didn't copy the link and don't have it handy (Washington Times article maybe? In the Business section?)

The article said that the Carlyle Group has closed a deal to buy Loews theaters....the third largest theater chain in America.

This is very disturbing. Very disturbing. An attempt to stop the F9/11 movie from re-release before the election, or expansion?

It's from 6/21/04.

If the Carlyle Group owns, or is a major owner of, Loews Cineplex (which is where I saw F9/11), then it can refuse to show F9/11, and decrease the number of people who will see it.

This is very scary to me, to shut down access to a movie. A free speech thing. There will be other theaters, but in some small cities, a Loews may be the only theater.
