I gotta believe Nader's gonna throw his support to Kerry
At the last minute. Maybe the conservatives that are promoting him now will try to sue him to continue his campaign.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&e=13&u=/ap/nader_convention

Two conservative groups have been phoning people around Oregon this week, urging them to attend Ralph Nader (news - web sites)'s convention Saturday in hopes of putting Nader's name on Oregon's presidential ballot.

*More*

"We disagree with Ralph Nader's politics, but we'd love to see him make the ballot," said Russ Walker of Citizens for a Sound Economy, a group best known for its opposition to tax increases.

The Oregon Family Council also has been working the phones to boost attendance at Nader's event — with the idea that it could help Bush this fall.

2. It will never happen.
Never.

Nader is marching all the way to November, even if he has to march alone, secure in the knowledge that in the end, he is right, and that the fact that 50 million or more Kerry voters didn't look at the political landscape, and swing their votes over to him at the last minute means that liberal America deserves what it has coming to it.

4. I kinda fear that, too
But deep down I feel that common sense will prevail. Nader isn't stupid, he knows what's at stake this Nov.
If he doesn't have a sting up his sleeve for Buxh, then I'll consider him a pointless egomaniac without values.

I hope not

6. Sorry, Nader is so egotistical that he doesn't CARE what's at stake
He knew in 2000 that the possibility of having Bush in office over Gore would lead to a rape of our enviroment (which has happened ever since W took office), an assualt on women's right (which has happened ever since W took office), an abandonment of our allies, and every progessive cause that Nader works for would means JACK SHIT with Bush.
Never mind the fact that Gore was pro-enviroment, pro-women's/gay/minorities rights, Gore was the exact same as W to Nader.
Fuck Nader. He knew(knows) what was at stake, and his ego blinded him to this. And because of that arrogance, American suffers.
He knows exactly what he's doing. His campaign leader said simple that they aimed to hurt the Democrats.
There was a time I liked Nader. But ever since 2000, that's changed.
Nader doesn't care if America sinks deeper into the hell that Bush has created. He just doesn't.

5. Never
Ego-Man won't do it. It's SO important to get that single-digit support, right Ralph? And if you succeed in what you want to do, you can run back to George and let him pat your head as he says to you "Oh, you're such a good boy, Ralphie- oh yes you are!"

8. I honestly don't think it's about ego
Disclaimer: I say this as a Gore voter in 2000 and a future Kerry voter this November.

Who knows, maybe I'm completely wrong on this but I see a man who has stood up for the underdog most of his life and now he just wants to be listened to and validated by the political party that represents the underdog. And we need to take a seriously good look at ourselves when the spokesman for the underdog doesn't think the Democratic party is doing enough. While the Greens are on board with us this year, I think many would probably agree with me on this point.

Do I agree with his tactics? No. Do I agree with his beliefs? Of course. He's a smart guy. He knows how horrible Bush has been. I don't think he wants another 4 years of this crap though. But could this all be about just ego?

Maybe if our party members were to meet with him just to listen and not automatically attempt to get him to drop out of the race then maybe we would finally get somewhere with him. After all, at the end of the day, we want most of the same things.

We make fun of Bush for stumbling over the "fool me once" quote at the end of F911, but don't we have our own lesson to learn from that cliche? Split the Democratic ticket once, shame on Nader. Split the Democratic ticket twice, shame on us. Personally, I don't want to wait until 2008 to learn from 2000.

9. He won't do it
He'll stay in to the end.

I agree with Gloria that he should have been approached by the Democrats. Gore should have approached him in 2000. I think he should have been offered a position, or an acceptance of some of the Greens policies. The politicos on both sides have this down to an art with internal polling, and Gore knew full well that Nader was posing a real threat. It was Gore's mistake by not offering him, and the Greens a piece of the pie.

This time, Nader seems to be on a crusade - possibly because of being snubbed in 2000? - and views the Democrats as a bigger threat than the Republicans. He's almost consumed with them. Go check the Progessive out and see what his running mate, Camejo, said about the Dems. at the Green convention last week. He talked about them like they were Nazis.

10. And the thing is that Kerry REACHED out to Nader
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 02:24 AM by WindRavenX
So I don't want to hear any of this Democrats don't care about Nader; Kerry has done MORE than he should have by trying to talk to that ego freak.
I say, let him go to the debates. Let him get his ass handed to him by Kerry on national TV and expose him for what he is.
