Chicago Sun-Times critic Richard Roeper's comment on "Fahrenheit 9/11" — "Everyone should see this film" — has been banned from the movie's ads by the MPAA because it carries an R-rating. And the MPAA wouldn't back down, even after Lions Gate Films, Miramax's Harvey Weinstein, and Roeper appealed. "They don't trust their own rating system," an outraged Roeper told PAGE SIX's Lisa Marsh.

Perhaps Moore could have "fuzzied" out some of the injury shots, but it's nothing worse regular "Arnuld" (aka Violent) type "PG" movies.

2. f-bombs

i was thinking the same thing as i watched it then the f-bombs started flowing. the mpaa only allows one use of the word "fuck". any more and it gets an R rating. that, plus all the carnage, i suppose.

5. It's a documentary though. I've seen films on PBS where they show

and say things that aren't normally allowed because they are documentaries. Scared Straight comes to mind. That had all kinda swearing and descriptions of adult situations AND was on public television.

3. I disagree with the MPAA

That is apretty lame excuse...however in my opinion the movie earned its R rating...though I do think parents should take their children to see it if they think they are mature enough! It would be better to have an adult there to talk to them about it.

7. Question for you or anyone else who wants to answer.

My kids are 12 and 10, and my hubby and I would love to take them to see it, however, since we haven't seen it, we have no idea whether it would be too much for them. I would really appreciate it if you would provide specifics on what makes it an R movie so I can better judge whether it would be wise to take them.

I assure you he won't be scarred for life. A few f bombs, a couple mother F bombs ( song lyrics)... the carnage wasn't anything that hasn't been (more than) replicated in popular movies (Return of the King comes to mind). We discussed the fact that this carnage was real, however.

Good movie... any reasonably mature 12 yr old can handle this.

Iraqi's and soldiers. Think of some of the threds in DU warning about the graphic horendous pictures of war. Then imagine seeing those on the large screen. I wouldn't take a 10 year old to see it and I would think long and hard about a 12 year old. You may want to let them see it when it comes out in DVD.

I know this movie had language and violence, and I think it may have had a little nudity (although CERTAINLY not sexual in the least).

I think that 15, 16, 17 year olds should see this movie, particularly the recruiting stuff. But younger than that, particularly MUCH younger, I'm not so sure.

Some rough language and some bloody war footage. The images aren't necessarily any nastier than you'd see on a particularly graphic episode of "ER", but the impact on the viewer is more intense cuz the damage is real.

It really depends on the maturity level of your kids. I know some 12-year-olds who could handle it. I also know some others who probably couldn't.

17. It will really depend on the children and what you are comfortable with...

When my oldest was in the 5th grade he had to do a research paper on the Holocaust. I discussed with him ahead of time that print records and the photographic records would be pretty intense and that if he was becoming overwhelmed then he needed to state that he needed a break and we would discuss it. We watch the History channel a lot and so my kids have seen some disturbing images.

I still draw the line with them if it's violence "for a buck" and not a documentation of what mankind does.

I saw it with my 11 yr. old and he was okay and we discussed it afterwards, but the 9 yr. old will not see it because he is different emotionally and younger and he cried a lot when shock and disgust started. The older 2 cried a little and were upset, but he was upset for a few days and we didn't sit and watch it - just happened to accidentally catch the beginning of it.

The 11 yr. old had to ask me if that was the beheading because it's from a distance and is over pretty quickly.

Sorry to be so long, but I hope that this helps you a little.

I don't know what we'll do for sure, but I'm leaning toward my hubby and I seeing it now, but waiting with the kids 'til it's out on DVD so we can skip past anything too violent or upsetting.

it empowered them, but they are tough kids who oppose this war and Bush and have marched in the anitwar protests - so they may be ready where others are not.

The MPAA's heavy-handedness sucks, but it seems like there's an easy way to get around this rule.
