Prayers--how many do you know which have been answered?
I believe in speaking to God. In praise. Not begging.

I have heard thousands of prayers made for terminally ill people. Not one survived. Not one.

Jesus said--"Do not pray on the street corner like hypocrites but go in a room to be along with God".

Street corner or in White House?

1. Quote
Matthew 6:5 - 7

5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites : for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

2. I pray all the time to my god/goddess and am answered most of the times
I ask for what I need and usually get it. I don't ask for wealth or fame but small things. I ask for a pleasant day at work or for help with a particular problem I am having or someone I know is having. My god/goddess wants me to be happy. I thank them and honor them also. They don't sit in a big throne in heaven throwing thunderbolts down to earth or expect me to feel guilt or demand my undying praise and obedience. They won't send me to hell or to heaven. They are not vengeful. They don't take sides. They don't look like you or me. They are both male and female. They are good to me.

All of them are answered.
Sometimes the answer is "No."

4. Well, I'm a Christian who believes
strongly in prayer, but I respect the fact that many others don't. I had a prayer answered just today; after nearly three months of unemployment due to a layoff, and increasing desperation and frustration, I was offered a job, a GOOD job with great pay and benefits. Some may consider it a coincidence, but I've been praying and so have my friends and fellow church members.

Sometimes the answer to a prayer is no, which may be hard for some people to accept so they think their prayers aren't heard and haven't been answered. We usually find out the reason why in due time, though.

5. George Carlin prays to Joe Pesci
and says that those prayers have been answered at the same rate as the ones to God...about 50%...equal to chance.

6. i have never asked for things, just doesnt feel right
my prayer is more a blessing and a thank you and help me to see the grace the divine in any given situation. i know there is a higher in all. even in times of being down, would be a more let me feel you lite, love hug.........

but i am not a believer in praying for things

i giggle with the universe. my youngest a challenging baby, adn was feeding him one day and hard it was and in exasperation i said lord give me patience, and immediately my baby did something for me to have patience with. i laugh and tell oldest, be careful for what you pray for. pray for patience, something has to come along to allow me to implement patience.
