What's the problem here ?
People squawking like parrots in the jungle...Stampeding in every direction...Attacking whomever gets in their way. Is there some impending doom causing this meltdown? I thought we were all on the same side here? The only stampede we want to see is the elephants stampeding from the Republican Party in 2004?

What's with those folks that want to write off huge portions of our country as if the entire states in those areas were colored red? Is there some kind of superiority complex at work here? Are we or are we not in this boat together? I have never witnessed such division on DU before.

1. Is this the first competitive Presidential primary season for DU?

That might explain it.

But regionalism - I don't understand. I don't want anyone to write off my region, that's for sure.

2. People shouldn't write off whole regions.
However, I'm a realist, and I'm pretty confident that my state (Mississippi) will go to Bush. So, most likely, will Alabama, South Carolina, and Texas. But that still leaves most of the South up for grabs. A strong Democratic campaign could give Bush a run for his money in Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, etc.

3. I hope the Dems realize that, and
are able to capitalize on it to try to secure as many Southern states that are not already obviously locked in with the GOP. Clinton might be a big help where that's concerned.

7. I'd like to see Clinton campaign for the nominee.
I think he'd be a great asset -- he's respected by much of the black community and his economic policies were well received by poor whites. He may not change any opinions, but I think he'd be helpful in getting people to go vote.

We need to work together to get our country back.

8. Really?
I think that's a relative statement. If you want to see hate, go check out Lucianne.com or FreeRepublic.com. Those are case studies on the definition of hate.

I don't partake in the region bashing, but it wouldn't suprise me in the least that there are RNC instigators on this board that are stirring the pot, so to speak.

9. My take
Edited on Sun Aug-17-03 02:16 PM by fishnfla
the Deanie-boppers who control the board are intimidated by another strong Southern Democratic candidate(read: Clark) making their region inconsequential, again(read: Dukakis). I'm starting to wonder if this is truly a "democratic" forum. I'm kinda new here, are any of the Mods from the south?

On edit: RRRWAAAAWCK parrots in the jungle! I like that
