Duncan's e-mail note ignites fury
By Pablo Lopez and Matt Leedy

Fresno residents and community leaders, outraged by an e-mail message in which City Council Member Jerry Duncan wished he had a "dirty bomb" to kill every liberal in Fresno, called Thursday for his resignation, recall or reprimand.

A crowd that gathered in City Hall also chastised City Council Member Brian Calhoun and his chief assistant, Ann Kloose, who wrote in an e-mail that police should "Cap" members of the Human Relations Commission.
T
he commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to ask City Council President Tom Boyajian to reprimand Duncan. They also want Duncan to formally apologize to the commission and the community at the council's Tuesday meeting.

1. This country is going down the tubes.
I can't imagine people who disagreed with liberals 15, 20, 30, 40 years ago saying things like this. At one time, you had to be a respectable person to hold public office, or to be a commentator on things which were once taken very serioulsy in this country.

We are in a steep decline, and need a savior to deliver us from our greed, intolerance, skewed religion and misinformation. Who can step up to the plate?

If someone doesn't make a stand, and soon, we're going to go the way of the Roman Empire, only much, much quicker. All of this is simply unacceptable.

6. liberals
I am afraid civility between parties ended with Nixon. It has really gone down hill from then. Republicans instigated impeachment proceedings then. They will never do it now. They are absolutely drunk with power. Note the way Democrats have been treated with GW and Tom Lay trying to redistrict Texas. They have already done it in Colorado and moving their tentacles into California. How they are getting by with it is beyond me.

2. In case Mr. Duncan was unaware of the
PATRIOT act, see (i);

USA Patriot Act HR 3162 EH
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; (B) appear to be intended? (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

4. Oh, but when it comes to wingnut repukes,
justice most certainly is not blind. They can do and say whatever the hell they want and no one blinks an eye. But can you imagine if a Dem or liberal had said something like that against conservatives? He/she would have been tarred and feathered and hung up by their sensitive parts right then and there.

9. or just imagine
if remarks like this were made about Christians, Jews or any ethnic group. Why are "liberals" seemingly OK to threaten as a group?

14. Perhaps literally
Since the Wingnuts have begun fanning the flames of hatred in this country (now finally responded to with hatred in kind which is the nature of human beings and in act the right thing to do when fighting Totalitarian Monsters), nothing is out of bounds.

Nothing.

8. They want an apology??????????????????????
These guys play by their own set of rules. Let a democrat say something similar, and they would be paraded down main street in shackles. This is truly disgusting. I hope someone posts a followup on what actually, if anything, happens to this person.

10. I remember when Jesse Helms
made a seemingly 'veiled' threat to Clinton, that he would be endangered by irate military if he visited NC.
Of course nothing much came of it, not sure if he ever apologised.

19. Didn't some truck driver...
get a ridiculous prison sentence for making a joke about a "burning Bush" a while back? This guy should at least be thrown out of office. His remark was a lot worse.
