Bush a 'very weak' man

Athens - A former US diplomat who resigned over the Iraq war on Sunday described US President George W Bush as a "very weak" man led by the hand into battle by Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Brady Kiesling, who was political counsellor at the US embassy in Athens at the time of his resignation in February, said in an open letter published by Greek daily To Vima that Rumsfeld exploited the war to increase his own power.

Kiesling - whose warning that US aims in Iraq were "incompatible with American values" struck a chord with the predominantly anti-war Greeks - described Bush as "a politician who badly wants to appear strong but in reality is very weak."

Yes Bush* is weak. But how weak? If we have another attack utilizing WMD...he will be wildly popular. As he puts on his brave face to confront the "terraist". Why does he always say war on "terra".

i think its becoming common knowledge among beltway insiders that Junior is a very weak person who isnt in control of anything. Bunker Dick, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz are running everything....Sharon walks over Junior like he isnt there.

I really dont think Junior is making the decisions, the neo-cons are. There are very bad people surrounding a dimwit who has no strength of character.

Let's face it, W loves killing! And fundraising! And energy deregulation. Three topics where I saw him awake during his misadministration.
The tone of the piece seems to absolve W of responsibility - nice kid, but the peer pressure....
He is weak to be sure. But he is also a mean homicidal maniac who said in 2002: "F*k Saddam, I'm taking him down" in private and "I am a man of peace" in public.

Very interesting man, very erudite, well spoken. He could have gone far in the diplomatic corps. Too bad he felt he had to leave.

That is not true. If another attack takes place, there will be no Bill Clinton to blame and questions will be asked about what he did to prevent the attack. Nor do I see most of the Democrats repeating their post 9/11 group hug (save for Joe Lieberman, who will probably suspend his campaign for the sake of "unity", which is fine with me). I think it will be the same for a Democratic president: he'll get one "get out of jail free card" for the first attack, but a second attack will bring major scrutiny and criticism.

I don't see that changing, no matter what. Reagan used to be the teflon president. Nothing stuck. Bush is the same, though ten times worse in his policies. The media never calls him on anything. Any other president would have been gone long ago.

Tinfoil time: The repubs made such a big deal out of impeaching Clinton so that the people would be sick of the process by the time their boy became king.
