Liberals strike back!

Here's a passage from Joe Conason's new book. Question for the board: Do you see any signs that Libs have learned to strike back hard?


"My wife's grandfather is an unrepentant right-winger who likes to tweak me with editorials from the New York Post and Internet jokes about dumb Democrats. He is also a true patriot and a gentleman who has treated me with kindness from the first day we met, despite my obnoxious opinions. I would much prefer an atmosphere that encourages friendship rather than hatred among Americans, regardless of ideology and party.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's much chance of that happy outcome until liberals learn to hit back hard."

You think that the Busheviks have programmed these people to be unthinking monsters so that they could return to civility, shake hands afterwards, and become noraml again?

NO! If we hit back harder they will hit back harder. They won't hesitate to intiidate, beat, and murder, once the vigilante groups get up and running and are "deputized" (if they aren't already in this Privatized Empire).

I don't see any other options besides two, now that it's clear the course has been set and the die cast

4. Not Yet, But We're Getting There

We still have not learned to strike the needed balance between hitting back and over-reacting. Too many times those to do fall for the conservative liberal-baiting end up going off the deep end and merely reifying conservative stereotypes of liberals.

To put this back into a literary context: We need to strike a balance between hitting like Michael Moore and hitting like Michael Lind. Once we find that balance no amount of faux patriotism and ignorant bile will protect the sham of contemporary conservatism.
