Why do I ever bother to look at network news?
CBS

Several minutes of the values horrors committed by the dems at last nights celebration.

Several more minutes on the wonders of the values driven * campaign.

And interesting little "postscript" to an earlier story: It has been discovered that *s TANG records were accidentally destroyed several years ago. @10 seconds.

1. ABC, exactly the same
Pictures of Whoopi, excerpt showing Kerry praising the performers, minutes of Kerry & Edwards on stage with them all. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Then one sentence about the magical disappearing guard records. The records that would PROVE, btw, that bush DID serve.

4. Well now we know why the RNC wanted the video
They obviously produced the segment themselves and sent it out. Sort of like the fake reporters talking about Medicare prescr drugs.

and thought the exact same thing. I'm feeling so angered by this Friday afternoon news dump.

10. The good news is
that news coverage on the Dem fund-raiser probably wasn't seen by many either.

8. So angry!
Seeing F/911, reading DU threads, something has clicked and I'm just so angry at what is happening. Why is it a moral outrage if some entertainers use sexual innuendo but our country's leaders can lie with impunity. I'd much rather my children learn to cuss than tell lies. God, the injustice being perpetrated on this country. I cannot wrap my mind around all of this.

15. I couldn't agree more.
I was never political. Never liked *, but didn't buy into the 'stolen election' stuff.

Than I found google.

Than I found Buzzflash.

Than I found DU.

It was like a Star Trek episode: Population elightened by 'outsiders' who expose the truth about their government lying and enslaving them.

Except this is really happening. They go on TV and lie. 24 hours a day. Sometimes some truth is exposed - only to be forgotten, over trampled over in a stampede of RNC talking points.

I am a normal mainstream male adult. And I am now scared and sickened by the people in power.

Ignorance IS bliss, I guess.

18. yes, ignorance
is bliss! I can't quite decide if I'm glad I found this site or not. For one thing, I spend an inordinate amount of time sitting at the computer reading. Actually kicked my 9 year old off this afternoon.

I'm also in that "mainstream" adult world, and I believe part of my reaction to all this is "What the HELL can I do"?

We have decided to volunteer for our local democratic party for the first time ever, and we're going to buy signs and bumper stickers and donate to Kerry's campaign, and I've been much more vocal with my republican family members and friends,

But......it just doesn't feel like enough and I'm discouraged.

9. The television is an instrument of the devil
The best thing you could do for yourself is throw it out the window (remember to open the window first. And don't shoot it - neighbors may get spooked).

Listen to me. I know these things!

11. I'm beginning to agree!
I keep trolling around the myriad channels and cannot find a decent place to hear the news. Ever since my "awakening" I hear it all with new ears and am disgusted!

16. It's useful for watching videos, and I have a guilty Star Trek addiction
occasionally though, I make the mistake of actually watching the evening news to see what the rest of the country is seeing. GAH! Tonight affected me unusually badly - it was so obviously written for them by their WH bosses. And then to hear that this BS was the same on all channels!

The whole bit where they ran a trash story against the values of Kerry/Edwards followed by a paean of praise for *s heartland values was such obvious nauseating propaganda. And yet they have the nerve to accuse MM of propaganda - when this is the kind of crap that our vaunted "free press" feeds us. It's Pravda, except that Americans actually believe it, instead of recognizing that they are being shown total crap.

17. Fat Cats and Hollywood celebrities!
Ted Koppel described it as a gathering of "fat cats and hollywood celebrities." Terry Moron then gave a breathless voice over in one of those sensationally outraged tones. When they went to Kerry's response, Terry Moron prefaced Kerry's comments with "Kerry tried to turn the tables."
