She did not respond directly when asked why the candidates did not repudiate from the stage the harshest language directed at Bush and noted that the Bush-Cheney campaign didn't release recordings of its fund raisers and neither did they.

and from what I have heard the remarks and jokes would actually not be all that offensive to mainstream America who are used to Whoopi's style of humor. This whole brouhaha just raised more interest in the Kerry campaign events.

Most of the so-called shocking quotes were just celebrities telling it like it is about Bush. Kind of like the F911 criticisms where they can't dispute the facts so they play up the disrespect to the Pres angle.
