Lieberman & DLC - if you want to bear the brunt of my sarcastic retorts
Make a dumb post that acts like Lieberman and the DLC are in cahoots to do something evil to the elections.

This is not a support of Joe Lieberman - I'll vote for him, but only after I work my ASS off for the candidate of my choice in the primaries and yet Lieberman still wins the nomination. I'm betting that he doesn't

But here's what pisses me off more than life itself: LIEBERMAN IS ONLY ONE OF FOUR PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATES RUNNING IN THE PRIMARIES THAT IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE DLC. For those of you who want to tinfoil hat about some Lieberman/DLC scam - make sure you remember that the DLC also is John Kerry, John Edwards and Bob Graham. DLC has NOT endorsed a specific candidate and personally they'd be dumb to put all their pennies in the Lieberman camp since he doesn't seem to be fairing well as of lately.

DLC is NOT Joe's exclusive club - please remember that in future flames about the DLC.

2. Actually Gephardt is not DLC
At least he isn't in the current DLC list.

Geez, my dude Tom Carper has moved up quite nicely in DLC management

3. Actually, I heard that the DLC . . .
is made up of flesh eating zombies who stalk the streets of our cities at night, moaning "Brains, brains, brains, if only we had some brains." They plan to have whatever Presidential candidate wins introduce the Teenagers Wandering Around After Dark Encouragement Act in order to ruin everything.

4. Thanks for your post
I've been confused over the structure of the party. Can you tell me if the DLC is officially sanctioned by the DNC? How independent is the DLC?

And, finally, does the DLC have much weight in deciding who the eventual nominee will be?

Pardon the ignorance but being a Central Wisconsin Dem is like living in exile....we travel by night and live off the land.

5. I wish I could share more info like that with you
But I don't know.

However, you can read more about the DLC at http://www.ndol.org

To be honest, they have some good stuff but probably not enough to outweigh that stuff that really ticks folks off.

I'm neutral still about the DLC, Tom Carper has burned me too much with his senate votes (he's one of my senators and one of the leaders of the DLC).

8. But Lieberman is the most high profile...
...and is getting the most 'mainstream' airtime.

- Lieberman is anti-Democratic and would continue most of Bush's* policies.

- And yes...the DLC has more power (and corporate cash) than many Dems realize. They have a 'litmus test' that eliminates any candidate with 'liberal' leaning credentials and have adopted the corporation over the people mentality of the right.

9. That's it in a nutshell: "corporations over people..."
literally, figuratively, and in every other way you can think of.And no need for these corporations to pay U.S. taxes either; they can be chartered out of the Bahamas, send our jobs to India or China and STILL influence our elections.

One of the BIIIIIG reasons I support Kucinich; he's not beholden to the multi-national corporations, supports reasonable regulation in the public interest, will go after the monopolies.

11. John Kerry is getting alot of press
and is a top tier candidate.

If he's "high-profile" it's because we make him to be like that.

13. Propoganda
can be dispelled by examing the facts

But Lieberman is the most high profile and is getting the most 'mainstream' airtime

Not true. Dean and Kerry are getting as much, if not more.

Lieberman is anti-Democratic and would continue most of Bush's* policies

Since when is Bush* for minimum wage, Affirmative Action, abortion rights, gay rights, civil service protections for HSA employees, federalization of airport security workers, etc? This is just more of the Greenies "there's no difference" argument.

the DLC has more power (and corporate cash) than many Dems realize. They have a 'litmus test' that eliminates any candidate with 'liberal' leaning credentials and have adopted the corporation over the people mentality of the right.

Do you mean the DLC "eliminated" candidates like Dean, Gephardt, Sharpton, Kucinich, and Braun? In which dimension did that happen? In this world, they are still candidates in spite of the DLC's supposed "control"

Another "assertion by authority" with no facts to support it. I wonder why the "pro-corporate" Lieberman supports unions and increases in the minimum wage.

12. Don't worry.
Lieberman won't win. The reason he has been attacking Dean is because he is desparate and knows that Dean is way ahead of him. If Lieberman did get the nomination I could not bring myself to vote for him. I just won't. You know Bush would win. At least Dean has a much better chance because he stands on his own principles and doesn't kiss the Shrub's ass.
