Loss of votes for *??
What i would like to do is compare the loss of voting blocs for * in 2004 compared to 2000.

Any ideas? I know one - military vets. They are strongly opposed to * and especially with the pay cuts, VA cuts, etc.

Any other voting blocs that * has lost for 2004 (and hopefully permanently for Repukes)

1. I think he has lost the rank and file military as well.
He has lost the majority of seniors too because he can't deliver a viable prescription drug benefit like he promised.

2. fundies
are more likely to stay home now thanks to his "Roadmap to Peace" and not taking a stance on homosexuality comparable to Fred Phelps.

3. A lot of the Libertarian-Republicans
have been very unhappy w/ the Patriot Act and other privacy invasions perpetrated by this regime. Hard to figure out exact numbers there, but I think Bushco have lost a lot of the 'common sense' republicans.

4. Environmentalists.
Not that they were ever for B*, but they are more vehemently against him than ever before!

12. For me personally, there's no question.
I'm hoping that the Greens learned their lesson from the 2000 fiasco and the resulting devastation.

At the beginning of every budget year, the first thing Dean did was set aside $10 million for environmental concerns. He has a solid record as an environment-friendly governor and I'm hoping the radical Greens see that.

The BFEE/PNAC gang has got to go and, as far as I can tell, Dean is The Man.

5. As I've said before, I wouldn't count on any of them yet.....
Each and every one of the blocs who are currently ticked off at him be it military, vets, libertarians, etc. are no different than the majority of americans: fickle. Which means they may be steaming now over this or that but there is no doubt that come 6-9 months before the election next year he will throw out many a bone and many a token gesture towards these groups. Then couple that with the obligatory media smearing of the dem candidate and these blocs will end up scampering right back to shrubby in no time.

That's not to say that there are not military or vets or libertarians who don't like him and didn't vote for him last time. But anyone who was fooled once could very easily be fooled again.

7. a bit of a moot point
many, if no most, military vote absentee, which means they are very easy to disenfranchise.

8. "Fiscal Conservatives"
Many of whom think the Fraudministration is spending far too much money, especially for a crowd who claim to be conservative themselves.

Now I probably wouldn't agree with these guys on where all the spending cuts should be, but there's little doubt that the billions being wasted in Iraq and on most of what passes for "Homeland Security" have benefitted nobody but the Bush Criminal Empire and the multinational corporate satanists who are their life support.

10. Arab Americans and Cuban Americans
The Cuban community in Florida is agitating because President Bush isn't sufficiently anti-Castro -- why ask why? -- so they're keeping their options open at least in 2004.

Arab Americans are being deported and thrown in jail, so they're not exactly thrilled with the current administration.

11. A number of
Conservatives with kids near draft age. How many people can accept the policy of perpetual war?

I was in shock when my pro-life, ultra conservative hair dresser told me she and her husband could not vote for * again. They will vote Democrat in '04. Reason being - her son is ready to graduate high school and she doesn't want him drafted and then dead. Yipes! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. :wow:

16. The military is definitely a plum ripe for picking for Dems
They get to see exactly what Smirk's idiocy can do in living color, blood and guts and all the rest (by the way, no more water for you, we're cutting your combat pay, and the VA is out of money so don't come complaining to us about all those injuries you received).

17. I believe while its not a "bloc" per se, there are a fair # of people
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 07:52 PM by AlinPA
who voted "against Clinton" and thus Gore because of Monica. I know several people who are Dems that voted that way in 2000. Well, that group will be voting Dem for sure in my opinion.
