Illinois DUers: Will Bush be on the ballot in your state?

Last I had heard the State Board of Elections asked Attorney General Madigan (D) for an opinion before making a decision. For those of you who don't know the situation, the Republicans' decision to hold a late convention in September so as to maximize the sentimental sapp effect means that Shrub will not be nominated until after the filing deadline in many states. Some states are rolling over to chnage the deadline special just for him, but others like Illinois are moving more slowly. Democrats run the whole show in Illinois.

4. I remember this. The Independant Party filed a complaint

They said when they missed the deadline the state would not let them put their candidate on the ballot so turnabout was fair play where Bush shouldn't be on the ballot. Just googled and found nothing new on this, so more than likely the issue quietly went away.

i don't know the laws but but if they have to be changed to allow the boy king i imagine that at least majority would be needed. let's play hardball, folks!!!

I mentioned Illinois because it has a Democratic controlled gov. and leg. WV is Dem. controlled, but many of those are Dixiecrats and Zell-crats, so I did not waste my time. Other states include:

Alabama: Last I heard the (D) leg. was working on it. The Republicans control the governorship, but he is on his own party's shit list right now over taxes.

Indiana: Split control leg. (D) Gov. Haven't heard anything.

Texas: Republicans run everything there and they would move the deadline to the day before election day if Karl Rove asked them to.

maybe you should edit the title to something like (Illinois Dems answer to texas and cali repukes), i think there is a seed here that we can use. i don't know, just a thought. wouldn't it be GREAT to not have shrub on the ballot in some states??

12. I went to a board of elections meeting on the topic 2 months ago...

The room was packed to overflowing(presumably because the topic was on the agenda),k and then when the meeting was starting, they pulled some parlimentary shit, and tabled the issue and closed the meeting.

15. I called the Board of Elections

It was a month or two ago. Steve (not sure I should give his last name) said the IL statutes didn't say anything about Federal candidates - just state, county and municipal. They gave me the statute number and I found it online. (10 ICLS 5/7-60)

He said they were going to turn to the IL State Legislature to "guide" them. He said he didn't know if the IL Congress was actually going to address it or not. I asked what will happen if they don't and he said he didn't know.
