Do we need a new sexual revoloution?

I have been noticing the objectification of women more and more lately. The way ad campaigns make it seem as though a man SHOULD look at women like meat, is just degrading to us all (men and women). I really noticed it tonight when I saw the ad for the next season of junkyard wars. The new host is some barely dressed "attractive woman." Considering that show was begun by a well-known female engineer a few years ago, is seems like such a step back. Anyway, it seems that more and more of this is going on, just look at how young girls are dessing. It seems to me like a new sexual revoloution may be needed. What do you think?

America and much of the world have lost the veneer of respect we used to have for one another. Men and women seldom dress up to go out. Politeness has lost ground to road rage. And, yes, you can find men and women to do anything on camera, anywhere, any time.

How do you get the djinni back into the bottle?

I mean let so many of those responsible for ads, TV, and other things that degrade women that they are gonna have a hassle.

10. Not a hassle

They sell products -- lots of products. Young people buy this stuff and this lifestyle attitude. The media are influencing the world with THEIR view of how things should be -- rampant sex, greed, lack of religion, lack of morality, etc. But I don't see how to stop it.

This is just terrible!

Eating disorders are increasing as well as girls/women struggle to reach some basically unobtainable 'ideal'.

It seems the most recent sexual revolution devolved into some very co-opted women in the workforce and somehow everything has reversed completely.

I don't know if another sexual revolution is the answer, but this must stop!

I really can't stand it, it makes me loose some faith in the world as everything turns cheap and shallow at ever increasing numbers. And more and more many girls get sucked into it, and I truly believe it can be...for lack of a better phrase, life destroying for some.

7. try this experiment

next time you are at the movies, really watch the previews. Watch how they show all men, all action, then a flash of a female, usually partly dressed being tongued by a man; or perhaps they show a few women but they are all window-dressing bimbettes. The message is as old as ever - women serve a very particular purpose. It is very f***ing depressing.

and the weaker sex. The barely dressed doesn't bother me, but maybe if they truly weren't trying to be sexist, they would have an older woman in a tasteful pants suit hosting.

13. I think the whole message of modern liberal women

is power through one's own femininity... a "taking back of femininity". This is very different from the pre-sexual revolution era when women had no control over how they were perceived... weren't even allowed to be sexual creatures. A woman who was in control and proud of her body was considered a "bitch" or a "whore" because she didn't conform to the the conservative/puritan male standard, and had to "cover up" in order to not "provoke" unwanted attention.

Maybe I just a man and don't understand, but I don't see anything wrong with a woman being smart, independent AND sexy IF she decides to be that way. Look at Gov. Jennifer Granholm, for example, or Rep. Loretta Sanchez. They're "sexy" but most of that is because they're smart and independent. Many young women in entertainment dress provocatively, but are completely in control of their lives (Britney, JLo, etc). There's a big difference between the female sex symbol of today (who command respect even if half naked) and the sex symbol of yesterday (who were completely exploited and submissive).
