New Poll results covered on C-Span this AM.
http://www.maristpoll.marist.edu/

This is a Poll conducted by a college and, at least reported by Pew, to be very accurate.

The link summarizes the results, and although it shows the election to be VERY CLOSE, it also indicates Kerry ahead in the battleground states.

2. In virtually every category, a majority think Bush is a failure...
yet almost half think that he's doing a good job. Duh?

3. Its weird isn't it?
Although I'd be interested in knowing just what questions are asked of people. I've never been polled but from what I understand, some questions are asked in a way that kind of trick the person into answering a certain way or are so ambiguous. Might explain the results. It just makes no sense for the majority of people to think he is a failure and yet approve of his job performance.

4. Kerry doesn't offer enough of an alternative
The DLC is still triangulating and fussing over secondary issues instead of carving out a solid opposition which would expose Bush incompetence and criminal actions. They are missing the forrest for the trees in promoting an argument that the execution of the war was wrong, but not challenging the legitimacy of the invasion. The tragedy is since they are handicapped by their complicity, they do this country a grave disservice. This election is more about stacking the deck at the state and local level and less about leadership at the top.

5. And yet, we still have to worry about this Campaign By Fear
Kerry is ahead in the Battle Ground States, and yet, we still have to worry about the elements of Bush's Campaign By Fear as outlined in this article by Kellia Ramares
published by Online Journal--linked below
http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/072004Ramares/072004ramares.html

It will not be easy to get out from under the ton of bricks befallen on our Constitution by Bush&CO...Sorry to be pessimistic and paranoid.

Yesterday a neighbor stopped by to remind me that in a couple of weeks we are going to have an election on whether our unincorporated town should join one of two other towns...AND he added, it is important to be there BECAUSE THEY ARE ALSO BILLING IT AS A PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY.

Presidential Primary? Why? I asked. We know there's going to be two guys running. Why are they having a primary? He said he didn't know.
When I said I would never vote for BushCO (I know my neighbor is a God fearing-church attending-rapture believer) he said VOTE FOR HILLARY. I said Why Vote for Hillary. Hillary is not on the ticket. Should I vote for Hillary I'd be giving my vote to the Bush Boy and I will NEVER give my vote to the Bush Boy and he is not going to steal my vote this time.

When I called the Democratic Party in my area to ask about why we are having a Presidential Primary, the volunteer on the line said, "they want to have a trial run of the elections since there have been so many problems with the voting machines before".

I said, "somehow Poppy CIA dirty hands, will fix it in a way that if they need the extra votes they are going to pull them from out of the primaries run."

"Bush is paranoid about the terrorists," I said. "I am paranoid about Bush."

The volunteer said, "aren't we all"!
