Let's tell the truth about the "mass graves"..
I heard Newt Gingrich mention it again this AM on C-SPAN. He repeated the Repub mantra that we should just look at all the "mass graves" to know what kind of person Saddam is and as legitimate reason alone to invade Iraq. But the truth is that we don't know who killed all the people in those mass graves.

There were many 100's of thousands killed in the Iran-Iraq war of a decade ago. We don't even know how many were killed by allied bombing. So the truth is that Newt Gingrich doesn't know anymore about the mass graves than you or I. It has become an optional excuse because they haven't found WMDs or the imminent threat that they used to invade the country in the first place. They are liars.

1. something that's not repeated enough...
waaay too many in the present administration -- Reich, Abrams, Poindexter come to mind -- actively supported governments that made their own mass graves a few years back.

2. Somebody needs to call them on that.
Those mass graves were probably a result of the squashing of the insurrection in 1991 instigated by George I and then allowed to proceed.

Those "mass graves could also be the graves of Kurds killed in 1988(?) in the gas attacks by helicopters we supplied .

The word the Conservatives are putting out is MASS GRAVES. No explanations, no analysis, just MASS GRAVES.

3. look at the numbers
We are killing Iraqis at a much higher rate than even the worst estimates of what Saddam did over 35 years.

7. been waiting to read this....
It wasn't until late in the afternoon of Feb. 25 that the press pool was permitted to see where the attack occurred. There were groups of Iraqi prisoners. About 2,000 had surrendered. But there were no bodies, no stench of feces that hovers on a battlefield, no blood stains, no bits of human beings. "You get a little firefight in Vietnam and the bodies would be stacked up like cordwood," Daniel said. Finally, Daniel found the Division public affairs officer, an Army major.

"Where the hell are all the bodies?" Daniel said.

"What bodies?" the officer replied.

Daniel and the rest of the world would not find out until months later why the dead had vanished. Thousands of Iraqi soldiers, some of them alive and firing their weapons from World War I-style trenches, were buried by plows mounted on Abrams main battle tanks. The Abrams flanked the trench lines so that tons of sand from the plow spoil funneled into the trenches. Just behind the tanks, actually straddling the trench line, came M2 Bradleys pumping 7.62mm machine gun bullets into the Iraqi troops.

6. Wasn't There A Certain "Turkey Shoot"
At the end of Oil War I when we indiscriminately shot at retreating Iraqi soldiers and buried them - dead or alive - in MASS GRAVES?

10. There are NO mass graves post dating 1992. NONE. ZERO. Hence,
the BULLSHIT the bush regime is spewing in order to demonize hussein, continues, unabated as the flames of the other schemes and scandals die down.

The problem is that the regime used these non-existent mass graves as another notch on the belt of reason to invade iraq and displace hussein. This is the reason the regime killed the hussein boys, so they couldn't get to the press with the truth.

Turns out hussein was the one truthin'here. Not the bush regime.
