O'Really speaks!But makes no sense.
Fair and balanced’ news coverage sees 7th year
Commentary by Bill O’Reilly
August 20, 2003
(skip bravado about Fox’s heroic humble beginnings and go straight to simpleton reasoning that Fox viewers love)

“The accusation that FOX is a conservative network is pure propaganda as poll after poll has demonstrated that FNC's audience is across the board ideologically and demographically. The latest survey taken by Mediamark Research finds that more ultra-conservative viewers watch CNN than FNC.”

Here O’Really argues that Fox isn’t conservative because its audience is mixed, we are to conclude that the audience’s political views are determinative of the content broadcasted. But then he goes on to say that more of the ultraconservative viewers watch CNN, which if his first argument is accepted, means that CNN has more ultraconservative content than Fox.

(skip more senseless dribble)

“It is simply a sorry joke to see a political activist like Al Franken labeled a "satirist" by The New York Times. Attempting to smear and destroy the reputations of those with whom you politically disagree is not satire. If that were the case, Richard Nixon's Watergate plumbers would all be writing for Saturday Night Live. Hello, Donald Segretti, thanks for the satire. What a wit you are.”

What is O’Really so angry about, he has his own show? Man, if I were Franken I’d start wearing bullet proof vests around O’Really, this is personal.

3. O'Reilly
Well Franken is trying to destroy Fox News. And given Frankens enormous power he might succeed. I mean, in reality, is there no man more respected and loved than Al Franken? When his book comes out, I'm sure that Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Bill O'Reilly will have no choice but to fold their tents and slink back into the night. Who among us could stand against the terrible terror of having a satirical book written that mentions them?

8. Oh' Really longs to be reguarded as a legitimate journalist.
That is why he go so snitty when he was originally asked about "Inside Edition" being a tabloid show. Franken undermined Oh'Really's belief that he was in fact a legitimate journalist be dredging the whole episode up again and showing how Oh'Really had lied.

Once again, it is cognitive dissonance. Oh'Really is emotionally invested in the concept that he is a legitimate journalist. The reality is that he is a phony. When exposed to the truth, Oh'Really become aggitated and lashes out at people.

13. I just emailed this to O'Rielly
Dear Mr. O'Reilly,

After reading your quote below I've come to the conclusion that it's actually you and not the New York Times who doesn't know the definition of satire. If you'll take a moment to read the definition I think you'll agree that Al Franken is clearly a satirist.

?It is simply a sorry joke to see a political activist like Al Franken labeled a "satirist" by The New York Times. Attempting to smear and destroy the reputations of those with whom you politically disagree is not satire. If that were the case, Richard Nixon's Watergate plumbers would all be writing for Saturday Night Live. Hello, Donald Segretti, thanks for the satire. What a wit you are.?

Definition of Satire:

1. A composition, generally poetical, holding up vice or folly to reprobation; a keen or severe exposure of what in public or private morals deserves rebuke; an invective poem; as, the Satires of Juvenal.

2. Keeness and severity of remark; caustic exposure to reprobation; trenchant wit; sarcasm.

Synonym: Lampoon, sarcasm, irony, ridicule, pasquinade, burlesque, wit, humor.

Origin: L. Satira, satura, fr. Satura (sc. Lanx) a dish filled with various kinds of fruits, food composed of various ingredients, a mixture, a medley, fr. Satur full of food, sated, fr. Sat, satis, enough: cf. F. Satire. See Sate, Sad, and cf. Saturate.

15. He is angry, like conservatives will get,

because Al Franken spanked him with the truth publically on C-Span.

He (Franken) pointed out a series of lies by O'Reilly in which he claimed to winning a prestigious broadcasting award.

The award for his journalistic integrity was a fabrication and Al relentlessly spanked him in public for it.

I believe that this reference is also in Franken's new and soon to be released book.

No wonder why baldy-bean wants to have it removed from the shelves before it's even out.

Typical Republican response: sue to hide the truth...sue to get even.
