2. Kerry is my second choice to Dean

and that is one reason why I am so friggin tired of this on-going string of theads bashing either Dean or Kerry. I see a lot of similarity in the views of these two men, and I will be pleased to have either man in the White House. Kerry probably is more liberal than Dean, Deanis more moderate than Kerry. I feel both men can beat shrubass, and think it likely any of several more of the candidates (Edwards, Graham, Clark, probably Gephardt) can beat Bush given a well-run campaign.

What does it make me if my first choice is Dean, and Kerry is my second choice. A Dean groupie with war-mongering tendancies?

I've given money to both men, BTW, and could see giving some to Clark as well should he come in.

and I've been saying so for over a year. Any Dem CAN beat Bush. With voting irregularities we need the widest margin available, so that Dem can go in with a MANDATE to govern, and bring a Dem Congress with him.

No dem can probably bring a dem congress with him in 04, but I '06 it's a possibility

The best thing that could happen, looking at this objectively, is maybe barely gaining back the senate in 04 (50-49-1), because the odds in 04 are stacked way against the dems from just not losing more seats

and in the house the best that would probably ever happen is getting like 6 seats in the house in 04, and another 5-10 in 06, if we have a dem president who has become popular.

To do this we need an overhaul in our perception particularly in rural america and the south.

We need Edwards to do this

Farmer pulls off an upset against Bond in Missouri (+1)
Nickles retires in Oklahoma and Brad Carson or Drew Edmondson pick up his seat (+1)
Fred Cowan, Charlie Owen or any other candidate in Kentucky knocks off Bunning (+1)

that's a six seat pickup, putting us at 54-45-1. A long shot, but it does show there are many possibilities for retaking the Senate.

17. Haven't settled on my first choice yet.

But of all the candidates running, Dean is the candidate I agree with on most of the issues. But I still believe it is a little early to commit to a single candidate without knowing more.

Kucinich would have been my first choice for several reasons. First, he is the only candidate proposing a National Healthcare program that would cover every citizen from birth to death. He is the only candidate proposing to bust up the monopolies and to regulate corporate control of the media. He is the only candidate running who voted against that murder of liberity labeled the Patriot Act. And he is the best candidate to protect the rights of workers in every state to join or form a union.

So why is he my second choice, not my first? First, I believe it would be a mistake to lower the retirement age of Social Security back to 65. This should not be done until we again have government surplusses without dipping into the trust fund, and have made progress in paying off the National Debt. Secondly, I do not understand his position on the issue of stem cell research. If it was human cloning he wanted to ban, he could of voted for a Democratic bill which would of done the same thing. But instead he hurts those with cancer, diabetis, and other cronic medical problems that could be cured, by voting to ban this form of research completely. Finally, I disagree with his position on "No Child Left Behind". My view is no matter how much that you fund this legislation, it will hurt not help our public education system.

Both come from working-class backgrounds. Gephardt speaks to my head while Kucinich speaks to my heart. Both will fight for the working person against the international banking interests. I'm not so sure the others will, or can.

but only because Clark is not a candidate yet. Kerry is my first choice; Graham will be a very close third if and when Clark enters, but I think Clark will edge him out by a nose.
