Firefighters and veterans will work AGAINST Bush's election.
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 12:49 PM by blm
And we know that many currently in the military are disgusted with him and Rumsfeld, too. This will lose Bush the white male vote this time around. You can't have all these groups against you without losing a great percentage of that vote. Certainly not post 9-11.

Bush is going down.

Des Moines – IA. Fifty labor leaders from across Iowa today announced their support for the Presidential campaign of Senator John Kerry. The complete list of labor endorsers is attached.
Wayne Sawtelle, President of Firefighters Local 16 in Marshalltown, explained that he “wanted to be one of the first to endorse John Kerry because he has been there for workers. John Kerry has led on a national level so that we firefighters have updated technology, equipment and resources to keep communities safe. John understands that homeland security starts with first responders, and he has led the fight to make sure that the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday have a champion that understands that it takes resources, not just rhetoric to keep us safe."

John Kerry has earned the support of labor throughout Iowa because of his strong commitment to improving the lives of Iowa’s working families. He has a 90% lifetime voting record from the AFL-CIO. John Kerry is letting America’s workers know that a Kerry Administration will always champion their fight for better wages, striker protections, the right to organize, American jobs, and affordable and accessible health care. He supports overtime pay and has joined in the fight to defend the 40 hour work week by launching a petition on his website (www.johnkerry.com).

1. Good News!
I like that they are supporting Kerry, but hope that they will work for the election of any Democratic nominee. :kick:

It just goes to show that bush jr. doesn't heed the words of the first, and greatest republican president. It's tru that you can't fool all of the people all of the time! Hopefully, the working people, the military people and the people who want America to stand for freedom again will unite and kick dubbya's rear end back to texas. :kick:

Any D over any r in '04! :bounce:

3. good
I suspect they will endorse any dem candidate over Bush, I wonder though, how many union members vote in accordance with their unions wishes. You would think it to be rather high since the unions take care of their job well being.

6. Yes...but wouldn't you say
this time out that Bush has EARNED their distrust? They really seem to loathe him whereas they didn't know enough about him in 2000.

5. Yep...they worked their butts off for Gore.
And I think they'll work doubly against Bush in 2004. He sure gave them alot to work AGAINST this time out. Together with the military and veterans they form the group who is stuck at the forefront of all backlash to Bush's policies. The public WILL have to notice the disconnect between what Bush says and what his policies actually mean.
