HALF-naked and teetering on impossibly high heels, 18-year-old Jemma Gunning danced on stage before a jeering crowd of drunken revellers.
It was the latest tacky holiday event at Faliraki on the Greek island of Rhodes - the Bedrock bar's Eurovision Thong Competition.

Jemma got the theme of the evening a little mixed up and bared the wrong bit of her body, peeling off her bikini top to roars of approval.
The judge still awarded her top prize in the early hours yesterday, but seconds later she fell victim to Faliraki's clampdown on British behaviour in the sex-and-booze resort.

Two undercover police stepped on to the makeshift stage and dragged her to the nearest toilet to get dressed.
She was locked up and 12 hours later yesterday was jailed for eight months at Rhodes' Palace of Justice Court for lewd behaviour.

Public Prosecutor Georges Economu told her: "You think it is a good thing to do this thing in public - to go topless like this?

I can't believe this. Greece is just a copy of the U.S. run Moral Majority. What's so seriously wrong with nudity? What actual harm was committed?

may be totally confining and restrictive to others.

I'm no nudist (way too insecure about my body for that at the present time) but I don't see anything wrong with people in the buff. As long as we're not talking about public orgies or something then what's the big deal?
