The most effective posters have about 3 - 8 words in them, and 8 is on the far outside. I've seen some awesome propaganda posters from WWII and the Spanish Civil War that had no words at all, just the picture of a swastika, for example, formed from snakes, with a big boot stamping on it, or the same with the words 'Step On It.'
Think of the most effective slogans: 'Don't Tread On Me;' 'Damn The torpedoes,' 'Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death,' 'No Blood For Oil,' all of them are incredibly brief. Unfortunately, the kind of people likely to be swayed by posters aren't the kind to spend time reading 60 words.
Now, my didactic moment over, I have been thinking about stuff like this for a while. My own favorite are the kind that turn Bush's own garbage around on him -- the right wing slogans that now seem hollow and ironic. 'Help Is on The Way' Bush said when he was campaigning, implying that he was pro-military. Once he got into power, though, he slashed military benefits, and launched some wars, calling up the reserve and discomfitting hundreds of thousands of military families. We now know that for Bush, it was bullshit, but coming from Clark -- former military man -- the phrase has meaning, it points out what Bush is not, what Clark is, and underlines Democratic values: a safety net for military personnel, no rash wars. It also taps into a certain defeatism that some Democrats have been wallowing in: Clark is, in this scenario, a white knight.
There have to be lots more like that. One problem you might have is that, since Clark hasn't clearly enunciated a platform yet, it's difficult to come up with slogans because we don't know specifics of the things we want to point out that make Clark compelling. I kind of like the banners that the Draft Clark people have made, which simply state the high points from his resume.
This post was kind of long on generalities (sorry for the pun), short on specifics, but I hope there's something in here that's useful to you. If not, I got to spend a few minutes rambling about propaganda, one of my favorite topics ;-)
