NPR -- Kiddie Iraq
My NPR listening has gone down to about five minutes a day, and I think I just listened to my LAST five minutes this morning.

They were talking about what to do in Iraq, getting soundbites from various "experts."

Nancy Sauderberg of the International Crisis Group said that we will need to bring in increased forces from other countries "to be the tough ninja turtles on the ground" to battle the "evil forces."

Then Ralph Peters, a retired colonel, said that the US will not be able to rebuild Iraq, that the Iraqis will have to do that. We are just "helping." We are just putting the "training wheels on the bicycle."

Where do they find these people? Aren't there any adults to discuss this situation? Is it the Iraqi people they think are children, or the NPR audience?

Do they think anyone is still listening?

1. NPR continues to try to appeal to...
NPR continues to try to appeal to the people that hate it and
wish it destroyed: Right Wing Republicans. They are like a child
or a spouse who keeps trying to win unwinnable love from an
abusive partner.

This is a strategy that is doomed to failure as those people
will NEVER like NPR and will continue to wish it dead
and do everything they can to achieve that wish. And meanwhile,
the people that LIKED NPR (like you and me) have been
run off.

I quit supporting them almost two years ago and told them why.
Now, I've pretty much quit listening to them. And please, don't
anyone tell me "I'm hastening the goals of the enemies of NPR"
bytaking the actions I've taken. If NPR had answered EVEN
ONE
of my letters during the years I was just-pissed-off-
but-still-donating, I wouldn't have cut them off. If they
had moved even a smidgen back towards a reasonably balanced
presentation, I wouldn't have cut them off. They didn't do
either so I took the next step.

It's a damned shame NPR didn't understand who their friends
were, who their enemies ARE, and what do about both groups.

But now they can go to the hell they've helped make.
