9. BIG PROBLEMS....

I went to the site and there is NO mention of what they are going to do with the signed petitions -- are they going to be send to Washington or what?

Also, they have no downloadable version of the petition, which leaves out a huge section of the public who would like to sign but don't have access to a computer. But they DO have a downloadable donation form.

Is this really about presenting a petition to Bush or is this just a fundraising tool for a PAC and gathering info on folks to send future emails?

I signed the petition even with my questions about it, but I also sent them an email asking them to address my questions.

I'll keep folks here posted on what I find out.

14. Of course it's for fundraising and of course it's PR.

That's the point. Any negative publicity for Bush and anyone working to unseat him is welcome. There are no constitutional provisions for actually recalling a president (only impeachment, unlikely with this congress).

Of course the petition won't be delivered to Bush. he'd just burn it (or lose it; "The dog ate my petition!"). But it WILL be publicized as, for example, "2,000,000 signatures and counting to recall Bush". Mighty clever response to his presidency, if you ask me, using the California recall as an "inspiration".

.. since Lockhart is behind it, they could be serious. If nothing else, it.. and the signature totals.. may make it into the current news cycle.

Plus, it will give Hannity and O'Really asomething to rave about.

Which would be a shame, because I was very excited about these groups stepping up and running with the recall petition, because it IS a great idea.
