Poll question: What would you consider the most satisfying fate for BUSH?
Edited on Thu Aug-21-03 03:25 PM by Skinner
Sad that for many of us #3 is a way of life when this brainless biped lives on the lap of luxury...

My choice: #2

All are good, but the most important thing from where I sit is that the public wakes up and realizes what happened so we can learn from this debacle.

12. Agreed.
I would add that I would like to see him forced to resign ala-Nixon. I would then enjoy knowing that the remainder of his life was spent in relative obscurity.

I'll settle for letting him lose by a huge margin in November.

7. My wish for Bush
I hope he gets 20% of the popular vote in 2004. The second most important thing that could happen is that his abysmal performance throws neocons, right wing talk show hosts, Bible thumpers, and the entire Republican Party into the dustbin of history. Then, the Repubs should have to spend the next 40 years trying to prove that they have all that idiocy out of their system before they're allowed back into power in any shape or form.

Then maybe we could have some Republicans like Dwight Eisenhower and Jerry Ford again.

9. Does the last choice break this rule
Please do not post messages or jokes that could be construed as advocating harm or death to the president, or that could be construed as advocating violent overthrow of the government of the United States. The Secret Service is not known for its sense of humor.

15. Butt of jokes & disdain. Removal of "W" from the alphabet
(and of course, the GOP sharing the stain).
About 20 years from now, on some cheezy TV show, an "Where are they now" - an orange clad W stopping from latrine duty to do a "I am not bitter" routine for the cameras. All shaky and peeing on itself.

16. My hope for him is what happened to Nixon
sidelined as a joke, a defrocked priest of a dead religion, whose adherents will be loathe to admit publicly they were ever actually neocons.

Permanent exile in Crawford Tejas, subject of "what ever happened to" shows in ten or fifteen years.

Death by stroke like all ex-addicts in his mid sixties, quiet non- hoopla funeral befitting the unspeakable damage he did domestically and abroad. His death will be time to reflect and be reminded of one of the most destructive and shamefull presidencies of history, and remind us again to ask for the resignations of any in government who ever supported him.

18. First 1, then 2, then 3. . .
The rest would come as a result of the first three.

As for Choice 2, he would not be impeached as an ex-POTUS, BUT, he should be tried as a common criminal for high treason.

BTW, the above goes for his staff and his cronies as well.

Or at least against DU rules, funny though it is. (Remember, we're not allowed to advocate violence--however comical or poetically just--to anyone.)

20. Since I'm unable to edit my post I'll just say:
to : soleft

My apologies if I inadvertantly implied any of the conditions you mentioned for which a post would be considered in non-compliance with the Board rules.

That said, choices A, B and D can and should all be accomplished by the peaceful and lawful use of power granted to authorities (i.e. Congress, Int'l Criminal Court).

Choice C would not harm him. In fact it would put him in the same league as the middle class...

Choice D is obviously a spoof on the pretzel incident and is phrased in a way that does not imply a threat...(at least from where I sit)

However, given that a misunderstanding on this might cause problems for me as well as others here I'll be more careful in the future on the phrasing of my choices...

Mike

23. Governor Bush
All of the above.
He should be allowed to resign in disgrace and crawl under a Crawford rock .
My sense is that something akin to what happened to RMN in 74 needs to happen.

I don't ever think he will learn anything. The man understands nothing.
Political exile will be all the more frustrating after having had so much power.

The worse punishment would be a long life in social and political obscurity - after impeachment and removal from office. But let's fine him too.

Let him enjoy being rated as the worst president ever in American history.

25. impeachment for making false statements to Congress
John Dean makes a good impeachment case. I think the case that he made false staments is the strongest, not treason.

29. imprisonment and then
community service. He should do community service in the morgues and hospitals. Each time a war vet comes home in a bag, each time a war vet's kids are born with birth defects, he should come face to face with the results of his administration's decisions. He should tend to the graves of the 3000 people in the United States of America who died of not having enough food to eat, in one year. (World Health Organization statistics.) He should personally explain to the families of people who died because they couldn't afford medications, why $400 billion was available for the military, but nothing for saving lives at home. He should bury with a shovel each animal, each bird, who dies as a result of his administration's environmental decisions.

That's after he's done his time in Guantanamo, wearing shackles and a hood, in a barbed wire cage. With no access to attorneys or the outside world, and no acknowledgement of his whereabouts.

Oh, well, he can have a phone in his cell, with 10 buttons on it. He can push those buttons all day long, but they won't do anything -- kinda like our electronic voting machines. We'll tell him he is making phone calls -- "must be a bad connection"....

And, in nearby cells, there should be his fellow war criminals......

I wound up voting for the latter.

At any rate, if anyone ever deserved a comeuppance, it's that self-righteous, my-way-or-the-highway, spoiled, coddled, ignorant, smirking, insensitive windbag. Out with him! Out, out!

31. I chose "OPTION REMOVED BY ADMIN"
I dunno what it was but I can only guess...

Frankly, none of those alternatives come close to the eternal Christian damnation that I imagine waits for him when he dies of natural causes many years from now. I don't subscribe to that whole tradition, but I can only hope he gets the afterlife he's created for himself.

32. Hanging upside down by the ankles in the New Plymouth, Idaho, jail
I don't even know if this is still there. I know they didn't use it when I lived there in the late 1960s, but the New Plymouth Jail is a cinder block building about the size of a two-hole outhouse. It had one cell because New Plymouth had one criminal. (This is no shit. They'd only ever locked anyone up in this jail four times, and it was always the same person.)

But yeah, lockin' Dubya up in a place like this would be a start.

37. true
it's our government he stole, and our people to first suffer from his oppressive tyranny. after we're done with him, then the world can have him.

however, given the phrasing, i chose the last option. unspeakable things would be far more 'satisfying', if not truly just...
