Wayne Madsen gets a look at GOP Tracking Polls
Bush-Cheney Campaign Headquarters:
What They Don't Want You To Know

by
Wayne Madsen

JULY 27, 2004: 1000 PDT (FTW) -- Amid a towering cluster of office buildings in northern Virginia stands a 10-story red brick and glass edifice. One of many new office buildings rising along Arlington County's growing Rosslyn-Ballston business corridor, the structure nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac at 2107 Wilson Boulevard has a special mission this year: to ensure that the Bush-Cheney administration is guaranteed another term in office.

~~~~~~~~
Yet the Bush-Cheney operation, with all of its security cameras and guards, does not fully appreciate the importance of operational security. While recently walking past the building on a well-traveled pedestrian sidewalk that leads to the Court House Metro station, I noticed that on the first floor, in clear view of anyone who wanted to look, were two 25-inch plasma computer screens. Both had color-coded maps of the United States. Stopping to marvel at the data being represented on the screens, I realized that one of the screens represented GOP tracking polls. In many cases, such internal political party polls - which are always highly classified - represent truer numbers than what is being reported by the national media organizations.
Quickly scanning the map, I saw that the GOP numbers are a matter of serious concern. Using blue for its safe states (possibly the GOP feels that using red is too socialistic for its tastes), the Bush campaign sees itself in a commanding position in most of the wheat belt Prairie states, the upper Rockies, and the Bible belt South. Using yellow for toss-up states, the GOP pollsters seem particularly concerned about Louisiana, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, Arkansas, Colorado, and North Carolina. Solid red states (in this case they are Kerry states) include the same states Al Gore won in 2000 with the addition of Ohio, West Virginia, and New Hampshire. If that is how the GOP is reading the political tea leaves, it is very bad news for Bush-Cheney.
~~~~~~~~

The Associated Press is reporting that its analysis of statewide polling shows Bush in the lead for electoral votes. If the computer screen at Bush-Cheney 04 headquarters is any indication, the AP is way off the mark. One can only wonder how many other "public" polls are similarly skewed.

3. Articles like this
brighten my day. I would love to see Kerry win Ohio, WV and NH.

I want to see a blow out. I want Bush sent back to Texas humiliated. I don't want it close. I don't want recounts. I don't want any questions as to the outcome of this election. I know I'm dreaming but I dream high!

4. If the repugs are so far behind in the polls
they will do anything. History proves that. They have to be watched very carefully.

gress critters to go down in flames with him. Across the board rejection of this misadministration and those who have helped them.

5. More from the article
"A recent suspicious package scare at John Kerry's national headquarters put that office suite front and center in the news. Suite 700 at 901 15th Street, NW, Washington was evacuated and searched by Federal agents and local police. Bush-Cheney headquarters, on the other hand, opts to hide behind a post office box in Arlington - Box 10648 located at the small local post office a few doors down the street on Wilson Boulevard."

9. WTF
John Kerry's national headquarters......was evacuated and searched by Federal agents and local police.

Bugs planted?
Files searched?
Computers checked?

I wonder how the Kerry camp have reacted.

I hope they called an exterminator.

How many times do we have to hear "corruption at the highest levels" before they are stopped?

20. It keeps getting worse!
We now basically have corporate owned media with O'Reilly and the like claiming "the left are dangerous Nazis who are getting far too powerful".

I am sick and disgusted!

7. How does this story
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 11:30 AM by ellie
jibe with the one about the repukes closing campaign offices in several states? I will do a search and see if I can find the post. I am having trouble with my computer.

On edit: I can't find the post. I will continue to look and will post what I find (if anything) in a reply to this thread.

8. I hadn't heard about that!
It confuses me though - if you're losing, you don't close offices....do you?

15. You do. You close them...
...if you're not going to bother fighting there. If true, such reports indicate the Bush campaign conceding territory it doesn't think it can win, and reallocating those resources to "battleground" areas where the additional "ammo" may make a difference.

That article about closing offices was also about (if I recall correctly) campaign contributions dropping off.

11. I feel (in my bones) that poll numbers are purposely being "skewed"
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 11:40 AM by SoCalDem
WHY???

The media (and the public) has been conditioned over many years to crave the "race" aspect of EVERYTHING.. From product advertisements to television shows to record sales to car sales...everything MUST be presented to us as a "LIFE OR DEATH DECISION".. "A vs B"....and presented to us as if EVERYTHING matters on the SAME scale of relativity..

We simply MUST know whether Coke is "better" than Pepsi.. or what the "numbers" were for Shreck vs Spiderman..

There was a time when this sort of thing did NOT mattter in the least.. People saw the movies they wanted to see, they bought the soda they liked, the cars that struck their fancy..

Media and advertising play on the "excitement factor"..EVERYTHING MUST BE EXCITING...

A realistic poll that showed the incumbent lagging way behind would necessitate some real reporting.. WHY is he doing so poorly?? WHY is the challenger sparking the attention of the masses?? WHAT makes them different??...

You know...REAL reporting.. And the natural consequence of real reporting is that people actually LEARN what is going on, and why... They simply cannot HAVE that..

It's just more profitable to keep polling, until they get the desired result, and just keep touting the "oooh so close" rhetoric.. It keeps the "story" exciting, and keeps the people tuning in to see "what's gonna happen"..

It also is a helpful tool, so that whoever "wins", there is ample cover.."We told you it was close "..

We are just being manipulated...like always.:(

He is looking into the Plame/Wilson matter, but I don't think he made a statement to that effect. There is a poster here who emails Wayne Madsen, but his screen name escapes me.

although I'm not sure on the date. He also said Bush and Cheney were going to be dumped in a coup by the Republicans.

Be very skeptical about anything that comes out on FromtheWilderness.

23. I hope with all my heart he's right
I have always felt that there were a lot of voters who kept their feelings to themselves - would only speak with their vote. I know I don't discuss politics with many people in the real world anymore, I've lost a few friends, so you learn to shy away from politics. Although my family hears the full story from me - daily. :)
