Guess what Joe Wilson told me today (the yellow cake guy)

Well, me and about 2000 others. Jay Inslee put together a panel in his district to discuss Iraq and former ambassador Wilson was on it. Someone yelled out that they enjoyed him on the Daily Show -he said he had enjoyed doing it.

But my BIG news....One of the questions for him was about his wife and whether there is an investigation about that. He couched his answer in a hypothetical-

(I paraphrase until the last part)

"If that had happened and she isn't an agent, she would have much explaining to do to friends and business associates. It would be very inconvenient and could be seen as an intimidation of others who might speak in dissent toward the admin.

Were it true, lives could be put at risk. Were it true, there would be first an internal examination by the CIA- I assure you there are many professionals there that know what they are doing.

The FBI would then investigate- Even though Ashcroft is the AG, there are many professionals there as well. In that case, I would surely offer to be of any assistance to them that I could be.

Trust me when I say, nothing would please me more than seeing Karl Rove frog marched out of the White House in handcuffs -and when I use that name, I've measured my words"

Whoever was bound by oaths or no-tell rules or whatever- those in the govt- at the WH- they broke the laws. If Novak were in court and the judge told him to spill his source and he didn't, the judge could jail him on contempt.

Wilson didn't say this today- But I did read an article in which he said Novak hadn't broken the law. The other people, IF it happened, did. A ten year sentence, I think he wrote.

It sounds to me like Wilson has strong reason to suspect that it was Karl Rove who leaked the information to Nofacts. If so, Rove should be jailed, but nothing will come of it.

I don't know how the media could put it. As far as they could go would be to report "measured words" in a "hypothetical". Not really prime time news media ready- maybe only editorial stuff so far.

It's more a glimpse into what the possibilities could be- by someone involved, who covered his buns as best he could in saying what he did. But that sliver of hope? I'll take it and I knew it would do some of you all good, too.

It's ridiculous, of course, not to see through the hypothetical so I agree with you that he actually meant it. I just don't think the papers can print it as gospel if he actually said it was hypothetical.

But this mention of Rove, particularly interesting to me, was not an evidentiary kind of thing. It wasn't a direct accusation. It was part of an answer clearly defined as hypothetical. What would they write? A Democrat wants Rove to take some knocks? He may know something that led him to make that statement, and I suspect he does- but *nothing* factual was revealed.
