by the Japanese. You can't call them California rolls even if you do put avocado in them. The Japanese will sue. You are stealing their ethnic property. And you Hawaiians, don't even think of putting spam and pineapple in seaweed and calling it a Kamehameha Roll.

But I will be happy to sell you a license to use the term. :)

25. Court said - "Wholly without merit!" LOL!
Fox News loses attempt to block satirist's book

Saying "This is an easy case," a federal judge ruled Friday against Fox News in its lawsuit asserting that a book by liberal satirist Al Franken violates its trademarked slogan, "fair and balanced."

Fox was seeking an injunction to halt distribution of "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right."

U.S. District Judge Denny Chin, after listening to about half an hour of oral arguments, said the lawsuit was "wholly without merit, both factually and legally."

""Calling the motion "wholly without merit, both factually and legally," the judge, Denny Chin of United States District Court, said that a person would have to be "completely dense" not to realize the cover was a joke, and that trademark protection for the phrase "Fair and Balanced" was unrealistic because the words are so commonly used."

50. What Bill O'Reilly wanted Al Franken to sign:
You hereby grant the entire, complete rights to everything you've ever thought, made or done to Fox News, in perpetuity and throughout the Universe; and even if one day they find a door in the Universe that leads to a whole new non-Uiniverse place, or somebody invents a time-stopping machine so that "perpetuity" no longer exists, or everything falls into a black hole and nobody knows which end is up and we're all dead anyway, so who cares--we'll STILL own all these rights, so stop whining, sign or don't sign, but face reality for once in your life, because this is the way the world works, pal.

*Note: This contract borrowed from another source whose intellectual property it remains. R. Chaz. The New Yorker. Aug. 11, 2003.

Only the "Fox News" part is clearly my own intellectual property. :)

Franken gloat over the ruling. CNN just covered the news again. They showed Bill O yelling his famous "Shut Up!". And then Franken asserting that parody is still protected under the First Amendment -even if you don't think it's funny. And then he has his chuckle.

I saw them on C-Span that day they spoke at the book fair. It's a delight to see things turn out this way.
