UN diplomat Sergio Vieira de Mello's last words: LETS ROLL!
http://reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=3325547
At a ceremony Friday before Vieira de Mello's body was flown out of Baghdad, a colleague said one of his dying wishes was that the United Nations should continue to operate in Iraq.

Was it a collect call to Ted Olsen?

1. He was found alive and made phone calls before he died.
That was stated from the very first.

3. I think his likely last words were...
The last words cited on the news seem too perfect for the cause. Maybe he did say "don't let them run us out of Iraq" and he by all accounts was an amazing diplomat, a true loss. I have such a hard time trusting anything the media says, especially when it comes to this type of thing. Dying words are powerful stuff. Here are some more likely last words.

1. Ow, my fucking legs are crushed. Get me out of here.
2. Thanks for the top notch security, Bremer.
3. Chalabi!
4. Tell my wife and kids I love them.
5. A prayer.

I hope I am wrong. Such a huge tragedy. This was a message to the UN for its de facto endorsement of the US occupation in the previous weeks's resolution. The scale of the tragedy this unlawful invasion created continues to grow.

Impeach Bush.

2. Is your subject line supposed to be a joke?
Excuse me, but if that's the case, it's pretty tasteless.

BTW, de Mello's body will be honored in his native Brazil, then he will be buried in France.

4. yep. a joke.
A joke at the expense of the media rather than de Mello. I was noting the perfect fit of the comment of the dying man with the administration's needs, and wondering out loud what a normal person would be saying when trapped under rubble dying.
