Is Mona Charen insane? Or just drugged?
This was published in today's Rocky Mountain News:

<snip>The bombing of the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad drives home the point that terrorism is the modern face of evil. What purpose, other than sowing misery, is furthered by murdering those who are trying to run hospitals, distribute food and provide school supplies? One does hope that the apologists -- those who constantly attribute terrorism to "poverty" or "frustration with the peace process" -- were paying attention.

So, let me get this straight. Mahmoud wakes up one morning in his sweltering, bombed-out apartment with no water and no refrigeration, and decides, "I think I'll be EVIL today. It has nothing to do with my living conditions or my future. No, I just feel like being EVIL."

She obviously doesn't understand that the run-of-the-mill Iraqi probably has no idea what the U.N.'s role in Iraq has been. To them, it's another flag flying over the city.

But this one really got me:

<snip> So whether it is easy or hard, we must stay in Iraq and transform it into something reasonably approaching a free and open society. If we demonstrate any lack of resolve now that we have achieved real momentum in the war on terror, all of the victories we've achieved will turn to dust.

"REAL MOMENTUM"??? What?! What momentum? Has she been living under a rock? We just stepped off the quicksand into the boiling lava pit. How dense can you be?

1. Stupid,stupid, stupid!
Momentum? I think that's code for "We're just getting started, folks!"

2. She's always been like that.
No connection with the real world at all.

Lives in the same self-congratulating la la land as Coulter.

3. Mona Charen=Gack!
I can't bring myself to even read her any more. Her column is a regular in our conservative newspaper and I'm at the point that I don't even bother reading her--it just makes my blood pressure climb.

I put her in a category with Coulter and O'Reilley.

5. Brian Lamb destroyed her on "Booknotes"
It was a very polite interview, about her book "Useful Idiots", but Lamb's whole line of questioning made it obvious he thought she was a right-wing tool.

7. As a calculated political move, bombing UN might
make a great deal of sense which we don't understand.

And thanks to shoddy journalism like this, we can't rely on the news to help us understand what those motivations might be.

8. Mona Charen is a pseudo-intellectual hack.
She only says what she is told by her handlers.

9. Mona and the other Repub slugs...dissolving in their own slime.
I am rather enjoying the show, actually!

It takes a lot of energy and Xanax for these people to suppress their consciences. So yes, I vote for DRUGGED.
