The next Dem President should go to the UN and 'repent'

If a Democrat (Gephardt or otherwise) beats Bush next year, I think that before (s)he takes office, he should go to the UN General Assembly and tell them that Bush's (p)residency does not represent America, and that America has better intentions than what Bush would have the rest of the world think.

I say they should do this before taking office because I think the UN (and the world) might be anxious to hear what the new President has to bring to the world stage after four years of the Bush Blame Game (which, asd you know, has spanned the globe).

remember that any new president will only have a 3-5 percent mandate at best. When embarking on healing a nation, he cannot immediately alienate 49% of Americans who simplisticly view themselves as patriots. The apologies will be much more private and much more in dollars of aid and in us getting the fuck out of certain places where our presence creates the problem rather than securing it.

Dean will be a great international ambassabor, and I am sure Clinton will be engaged to aid our reparations of international relations. He was so loved internationally.

It is no one except George W Bush to blame for the situation in Iraq. The majority of Democrats voted against going to war in Iraq. Why should they repent?

They should come out and say that we will change the policy as soon as we are in office. We will withdraw the troops as soon as possible. We will make every effort to work with the UN to replace our troops and to set up an international force. We should say that we think George W Bush and the Republicans made a terrible mistake and we will correct that when we are in power. But repent? No.

I do think the next Dem prez ought to re-establish better relations with UN to undo the harm Bush has done.

one of the very first official acts of office should be to stand humbly before the united nations and earnestly, sincerely convey how very much we need them to join in with us in our effort to stabilize iraq, afghanistan and all the other hazards left in the wake of the previous administration. An invitation should be extended to chirac and chretian for a weekend stay at camp david..we have lots of reparations to make, but certainly the un would be the place to start.

The next Dem president just needs to take up where Clinton left off, and strive to do even better than Clinton did, which is a lot. I say don't even dip into the Bush adminstration's cesspool, just flush it and start anew.

The U.N. knows exactly whose fault it is: Bush's, not America's. Let this prick live with his fucked-up legacy, and go down in the history books as the utter failure he was.

I'd also be in favor of a truth and reconciliation commission, covering domestic matters as well. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be rupudiated.
