2. The "which child to pick up first" line does not resonate with me at all.
For one thing, it assumes that everyone went in to a massive panic like he and Cheney did.
Maybe it was different for New Yorkers (probably was), but I, for one, went about my business knowing my children were safe.

Does he really believe that the whole country was thinking about where to hide? Does he really believe that everyone immediately thought there were fixing to be bombs all over the whole country? Call me stupid, but I just didn't have that reaction. I was shocked an dismayed. But, I really never felt the fear that he seems to have played upon ever since that day.

3. Check out this whitewashed version of his Unity speech
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 10:48 PM by NightOwwl
Here's the White House version
THE PRESIDENT: Tribal sovereignty means that, it's sovereign. You're a -- you've been given sovereignty, and you're viewed as a sovereign entity. And, therefore, the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/08/20040806-1.html

Here's the real quote:
“Tribal sovereignty means that—it’s sovereignty,” he stammered. “I mean, you’re a—you’re a—you’ve been given sovereignty and you’re viewed as a sovereign entity.”
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5633644/site/newsweek/

I hate them.

ETA: Not really on topic, but speaks to the way BushCo thinks they can play with words and screw with our heads.

5. is this a "Daisy ad"
kind of thing? I think it was Johnson who tapped into the parents fear for their children by creating an ad that featured a little girl picking petals off daisys right before an atomic bomb exploded. Playing on those kinds of fears is sleazy but effective.

"wondering which child to pick up first"

I don't have kids, but there is something very odd about that statement. Is that really what would run through a parent's mind? Isn't it kind of like saying "If one has to die, which one shall it be?"

27. You know what I don't understand
is how the hell George Bush managed to grow up into adulthood with that smirk. I'm a parent. I've raised two sons. Neither one would even think of showing off a smirk like that in this world because they know I would consider it my solemn duty to wipe it right off their face once and forever more. They'll even say to me things like,
"George Bush didn't grow up with you Mom". So what the hell is the matter with that Bush family? 10 minutes with that man, that's all I need and I gurantee you that shitass smirk is history.

18. You pick up the closest child first, moron,
unless the closest one is old enough to more or less take care of themselves (high schoolers). Then you go for the next closest.

Leave to the moron that couldn't react on 9/11 to not be able to figure that one out, either.

Is it possible to take these and re-edit them
in a Michael Moore kind of way and put them
on a website?

Maybe MM should make some commercials...

23. "We cannot hesitate"
Boy, is he asking for it!

All the Dems have to do is play this quote alongside Bush sitting at that elementary school "hesitating" for 7 minutes while DC and NY were being bombed.

I guess Rove isn't so bright after all.
